Archers Addicts 4!!

I got 4!

suzied, one of my three decided on a gap year, after finding A levels a real challenge she wasn't sure University was for her. She stayed at home, worked in retail, in bars and within a very short time was deputy manager at the local pub. That year was great, especially I believe, because she's an end of August birthday. If she'd arrived two weeks late, she'd have been a whole school year lower and one of the oldest in her year, rather than the youngest.
She did have a gap year several years later, lots of travelling and great experience. Maybe Josh will do the same.

Can we get back to discussing the Archers? Can't believe Josh is spending his gap yah ...AT HOME! How many young people do this? Mind you going to University seems to be the death knell for young Archers they always come back with different voices.

Nanabelle you must be a true addict I thought some of them were quite obscure.

Um, I got 9/10, but have been listening for ever! Obviously some were considered guesses .

4/10. Oh dear! It's quite difficult.

6/10 more vague intuition than anything.

8/10! I'm shocked!

7/10 but mostly guesses!

I got 6/10 but several were a guess as I just didn't remember them on the programme.

They do say that many companies are run by psychopaths Iam and many governments. It seems to work for them getting to the top because they don't have the emotions others have but recognise how to use and manipulate other people. Some will not be so successful which is why 'Rob' has been called "high-achieving I suppose.

We have been talking about the characteristics of 'Rob' Nellie for about two years and it I have certainly given links to articles by psychiatrists who have said that is what they would suspect (and he is not real). Psychopaths do not need to be people to fear; obviously with greater recognition of the condition we can see that, just as with any mental illness, if recognised it does not need to be dangerous (although it can be) and it is better talked about than not.

We are not naming people but having chatted about and compared 'Rob's' characteristics with real people phoenix I find it a little wry that you are now agreeing with Nellie's not unreasonable concern; not one you showed in the original post though.

Nellie, to clarify - I was referring to people who had been very carefully assessed and the diagnosis reached by more than one "expert"

I would hesitate to lable anyone A Psychopath or A Paranoid Schizophrenic. They might well at times show behaviours that fit the recognised diagnostic criteria but it is wrong to just lable people without any good medical evidence.
Over the last 100+ years there have been many people locked up in mental institutions for a one time "diagnosis."

Graces if you re-read my post, then I think many people will have encountered others with those sort of behaviours, but it doesn't necessarily mean they fall into the category of psychopathy.

Elegran - I have also met a female psychopath, in my personal life, very similar to the one you describe.
The kind of work I did meant I met a number of male psychopaths in the course of my working life, including one who reminds me very much of Rob.
I've just listened to this evenings episode of the Archers. The abuse Caz describes made my stomach churn.
I wonder what Helen managed to say to to Ann whilst we were back in Ambridge? Will Caz's disclosure make Helen trigger memories of events at BHC leading up the Helen stabbing Rob?
It's a disturbing story line but then, life can be disturbing, can't it. I imagine it's triggering all kinds of awful memories for some listeners. I didn't hear one of those announcements at the end of the programme that suggest you phone xxx if any of the issues has distressed you. (Maybe it was there and I missed it)

I wonder what your post of 20-Aug-16 18:35:12 meant then phoenix. You appeared to be talking about Robs characteristics which have been discussed everywhere, including on here, as being those of a narcissistic psychopath.

I would have thought that to be reminded of someone it could, reasonably, be said that someone counted that person among the people you know.

I am sorry if you are offended by my interpretation of what you said - I thought it was interesting that you seemed to recognise the characteristics. Perhaps I should have used a word other than "know" but I cannot think what to be honest as you would really have to "know" someone for someone else's character to remind you of them surely.

Graces at no point did I say or even allude to knowing a psychopath!
