I've been away and just caught up with events in Ambridge. I haven't read the links Gracesgran but heard the radio news about the 19 children killed by separated fathers. I have long felt that the family court generally had gone too far in its determination that contact at all costs was in the best interests of children.
So far as Pat supervising Jack's contact with Rob, surely she won't be expected to go to BHC, the scene of the stabbing, the rapes etc. Rob can't go to Bridge Farm unless Henry is removed from there every Wednesday and Sunday. So far as contact centres go, sad to say they are rare and getting rarer. There was an excellent contact centre in our area which recently closed because its a charity and like many other charities, is no longer able to function because the local authority withdrew funding. The withdrawal of funding followed the government reducing our local council's funding by millions, so that front line services can't operate, not surprising therefore the l.a. can't afford to continue to support good charities which were till recently supplementing its services.
Sorry for bringing politics into this thread but it is relevant.
I agree with the comments earlier about many contact centres being run by older female volunteers. There are certainly no guards on any doors. Even la family centres which provide a room for contact after school aren't fully supervised.
