Nina we have the complete set-4 series. We have enjoyed it many times and in fact have just started it again this week.

Gilly. Like many, I love a Geordie accent. My husband sometimes calls me "Bonny lass" and I like to say"I'm going to fettle that garden".

I tried watching it first time around but had difficulty understand the accent, sorry to any from the area

As a born and bred Geordie, I struggle with the some of it myself , especially the really thick accent from the pit villages.

Thats me sorted for a Saturday man woman.I was engaged to a Geordie Boy the only thing I missed about him was his accent to die for.

My SIL is a geordie - it slightly disturbed me to begin with as he would call me pet. And when his geordie mate arrived and said he had come for the "crack" I was expecting the police to break down the door at any moment!

Oh, we loved watching this! Would it be a disappointment to see it now?

We've recently watched the 1970's BBC version of War & Peace and were falling about laughing at the creaky sets and long, pregnant pauses. Otoh, the acting was superb.

I loved this series. I will try to find it.

Thank you for the tip Nina. - I have just found the series so have put it to record from next Sat. I love the Geordie accent but find I need to listen for a while to get back into it!

My beloved Uncle John played Tom Seaton in The Boat. He died far too young at 37 just as he was beginning to make a name for himself. 37 years later I still miss him hugely. My mother (his sister) had the series on DVD but somehow I don't want to watch it again

Best drama series ever - love it to bits - James Bolam is brilliant in this

We are wading our way through this at the moment and Family at War. I have mixed feelings about both. They are both very well written and acted but a gloomy (we also watched Girl on a Train on Saturday night that was a barrel of laughs)and I would like something light to balance it but cant find anything at the moment that is sensible. Oh I did watch Boose Cruise 3 that was funny.
