Can't find the old thread.

How silly the Matt storyline is - like the Rob storyline it is OTT. No-one is as villainous as Matt is being portrayed - they have just made him a stereotype of evil and it is ridiculous. I have never met anyone who encapsulates evil to this degree.

Stop it now you crazy scriptwriters and give as some storylines that reflect real life.

Re previous post I meant Jenny and Kate ( Kate and her mother)

merlotgran what programme are you referring to? Sounds better than Archers!

grumppa Mon 13-Aug-18 23:27:38

I didn't diss Mozart, Iam64. The Emperor did.

Maggiemaybe Mon 13-Aug-18 23:16:18

Thanks for the laugh, merlotgran! I usually listen to the Omnibus with half an ear while reading the Sunday paper. I was worried there for a minute that I was actually taking in even less of the plot than I thought! grin

merlotgran Mon 13-Aug-18 23:03:04

Blame my cat, phoenix. She wanted to go out so jumped up on the back of the sofa and started 'playing the piano' on the top of my head while I was typing. grin

phoenix Mon 13-Aug-18 22:45:57

merlot you had me worried there, thought I was losing the plot! grin

merlotgran Mon 13-Aug-18 22:12:32

Oh No! Wrong thread. shock

merlotgran Mon 13-Aug-18 22:11:38

DH gets very exasperated with it. The Canadian authorities know what's going on as they have first hand testimonies from the escapees so why no international intervention and why no SAS style rescue attempts at key loctions?

I get really wrapped up in it and he's muttering, 'Load of b*****ks' grin

What's the betting the evil Aunt Lydia isn't dead and makes a miraculous recovery at the beginning of the next series.

Luckygirl Mon 13-Aug-18 22:07:15

I think that all this drama is not a recent thing - Elizabeth and her abortion, Jenny pregnant and unmarried (shock, horror in those days!), Grace and the fire etc. Never a dull moment!

AyjayF Mon 13-Aug-18 21:57:59

Yes. I'm wondering where Lily is too. Surely Russ would not go off with her.

Iam64 Mon 13-Aug-18 20:51:32

Grumppa, putting the archers aside for a moment. Don’t diss Mozart! I saw a great tv prog inrptroduced by a composer/conductor whose research led him to conclude Mozart warranted a diagnosis of Turrets Syndrome. The conductor had that diagnosis, which he felt enhanced rather than inhibited his achievements. He followed Mozart’s compositions and highlighted what he believed was progression as Mozart let rip with his twtitches

crystaltipps Mon 13-Aug-18 18:18:01

Where is Lily ? Is she with her married man? But isn’t he on holiday with his wife? When will the sh1t hit the fan? Poor Elizabeth.

starbird Mon 13-Aug-18 17:02:34

Thank goodness that spoilt, whiney, 18yr old baby Freddy has been found out - I hope it all comes out now, but yes, poor Elizabeth.

End of Sunday evening episode hilarious with Jill and Kate!

grumppa I don’t think the plots are sensational at the moment - all very ordinary day to day events for 2018 (apart from the Llama), not like the tv soaps which I haven’t seen for decades - but maybe that is the difference between town and country.

grumppa Sun 12-Aug-18 23:09:06

Am I alone in thinking The Archers is overloaded wirh sensational plot lines at the moment? I keep thinking of Emperor Josef II's comment about The Marriage of Figaro: "Too many notes, Mozart."

mcem Sun 12-Aug-18 19:31:17

I'm glad Freddy's been nicked!
As my gran would have said 'Hell mend him!

phoenix Sun 12-Aug-18 19:04:46

Or was it a heart attack, DoraMarr?

DoraMarr Sun 12-Aug-18 14:38:51

Correct me please if I’m wrong, but didn’t Rex go home to care for his father because he’d had a stroke? Q

Maggiemaybe Sun 12-Aug-18 11:13:23

Goodness, I'm just listening to this week's omnibus.

"No wonder she's so upset. How would you feel if you were told you had to BYOB for your daughter's wedding?"

What, that and a massive discount?! I'd be absolutely delighted, Elizabeth, delighted! Kerching!

Iam64 Sat 04-Aug-18 21:11:17

mumofmadboys - spending time with the parents of infants and small children reminds us just how joyful parenting can be. Its those loving foundations that keeps us in there when they morph into Freddie and Lily - poor Elizabeth.

mumofmadboys Sat 04-Aug-18 20:30:46

Poor Eluzabeth especially when it comes out that Lily is having a relationship with a married man. Who'd be a parent!!!

AyjayF Sat 04-Aug-18 19:35:30

At last. Freddy arrested.

Iam64 Sat 04-Aug-18 19:02:12

Elrel I can't tell you how relieved I was when PC Burns, wearing a frock and at his own stag do, arrested Freddie for drug dealing. There may be a little local difficulty with the arrest, given PC Burns had drink taken and was off duty but I do hope the arrest withstands the money thrown at the defence by poor old Lizzie.

My relief is that Freddie will face justice in Borcestshire, rather than in somewhere like South Africa or Thailand where go to jail, do not pass go etc really means something awful.

Elrel Sat 04-Aug-18 17:46:27

Iam64 - I don't think he'll even get out of the country, the county even, silly berk. He's obviously not learnt 'Don't foul your own nest'

Iam64 Wed 01-Aug-18 21:42:08

Lazigirl, join the clan. I know it isn't RL but feel I know these people. I've missed today's episode. When is Freddie going to get arrested I wonder? I do hope he does't end up in a Thai jail -

Lazigirl Wed 01-Aug-18 13:37:24

I know that TA isn't real life but I do feel sorry that the Aldridge's are having to sell their house because of bad decisions Brian made years ago - I know he has made a lot of those, but so have some in RL. This is not an unknown scenario in RL and has ended in terrible tragedy for some families - one not far from where I live. I also think the storyline about Shula and Alistair is sad because they are playing out what many couples go through and can also end tragically.

merlotgran Tue 31-Jul-18 09:08:01

Seeing as Anthony Head who plays Robin is the good looking man who used to be in the Gold Blend adverts years ago, I'm looking forward to one of those pretentious scenes where they just have to mention the coffee is fresh in the pot as though nobody in Ambridge ever opens a jar of instant.

He'll reach into his man bag and murmur sexily, 'No thank you, I've brought my own.'
