Just a thought but my daughter has an MA too. Reading is extremely difficult - about half the speed of an average adult and great difficulty with all the totally new words (and a lot of the regular ones) that she will probably never come across again. She does manage to understand what is written though. Congratulations on yours (do I bow?) but it doesn't always seem to promote logic, does it?

However, it really wasn't me who gathered three or four people together to form an attack. Surely almost nothing I could have said would warrant that? Bullying? yes. One person and its just a reply to a comment; three or four and I would call that bullying. As for Grannies; I am one and generally we are older or old. I would seem a little over sensitive to complain about a truthful description.

It appears that a group gathering together to set about the post one person is okay with you but that one person defending themselves is not. Nice

I have tried to get this back to the Archers. You are obviously determined not to.

2. You did not say it would be unkind, etc etc etc you said if, blah, blah “you were being unkind (check use of tenses)
3. Can we have less of the “old Grannies” please? I possibly may be older than you having just hit 70, but don’t pretend “old Grannies” was meant as a compliment.

I didn't say that you were being unkind but that if you thought I felt a person/people "were out to get me" then you would be being unkind to add to what you described as how you thought you were making me feel. Credit to the scriptwriters that listeners get so involved in the characters and storylines that they connect emotionally (both negatively and positively) with some of them. You can “ dislike” a character but still like the show surely - we love to hate a villain in a story (cos its a drama innit?) anyway I love to hate- Jennifer, Kate, Tobee and Pip at the mo. I always like Susan , Clarrie and Eddie. Anyone else fed up with Harrison and Fallon plugging sport relief ?

I was not being in the least controversial. I just said I didn't understand something. It is others who have taken offence at my lack of understanding. I am part of the thread too mcem. This is not the Archers Party or the Archers club where you may only join if you treat it in a certain way. I was not dictating to anyone but I was then dictated too, simply because I admitted to not understanding how/why some people think the way they do.

It has taken three or four of you to try and persuade me that I am "wrong" when I had never said or implied that I was "right". I see a lot of unconfident people posting their attacks about nothing in order to feel better in themselves and I am sorry if I inadvertently struck a nerve for some.

All I said was I don't understand why people listen to the Archers if they are so extremely critical of the characters. That is my opinion. You may not share it but I am allowed to hold it. I do not understand why people need something to complain about rather than enjoy.
