Can't find the old thread.

How silly the Matt storyline is - like the Rob storyline it is OTT. No-one is as villainous as Matt is being portrayed - they have just made him a stereotype of evil and it is ridiculous. I have never met anyone who encapsulates evil to this degree.

Stop it now you crazy scriptwriters and give as some storylines that reflect real life.

at times

GracesGranMK2 Mon 19-Mar-18 10:51:21

Not a knowledgeable opinion then MawBroon as many a conversation on here has been more serious. We have had both, and people have joined in both, so from the evidence this is not just about light-heartedness.

Some posters, at times, take The Archer's very seriously indeed at times and I don't think adults need Merlot to tell them when they should and when they should not.

GracesGranMK2 Mon 19-Mar-18 10:46:39

Are you more of a mumsnetter than a Gransnetter Merlot? I have noticed a few come over here for their arguments.

MawBroon Mon 19-Mar-18 10:46:15

The assumption was however only an opinion though.

GracesGranMK2 Mon 19-Mar-18 10:45:31

No, Maw that is not what I said and I rather think you know that. I was talking about the assumption that anyone could know what everybody else thought or wanted from this thread.

merlotgran Mon 19-Mar-18 10:38:32

I'd love to see you post something like that on the Mumsnet Archers thread, Graces

They'd eat you for breakfast. grin

merlotgran Mon 19-Mar-18 10:36:48

confused

MawBroon Mon 19-Mar-18 10:34:58

“Arrogant” to express an opinion? ?

GracesGranMK2 Mon 19-Mar-18 10:27:08

No merlot. Some posters have. You cannot possibly talk for all - just a bit arrogant to try and do so, surely. I thought all posters were equal on GN. I like the light-hearted bits; you assume an awful lot about others.

MawBroon Mon 19-Mar-18 10:21:47

What do you mean “It’s not real” Luckygirl?
You’ll be dishing the dirt on F.C. ? and the Tooth Fairy ?‍♀️ next!
sad

merlotgran Mon 19-Mar-18 10:02:22

I think you'll find that the posters have always set out to make the Archers threads light hearted, Graces

Nobody joked about Nic's death but there are always two main topics on the go with each episode so there's always something light hearted to discuss despite the more serious issues.

GracesGranMK2 Mon 19-Mar-18 09:10:16

I think you will find any thread is what the posters make it LG, rather than what someone says it is.

Luckygirl Mon 19-Mar-18 09:04:44

I think you will find this thread is light-hearted and tongue-in-cheek. smile

PS We all know it is not real - honest!

GracesGranMK2 Mon 19-Mar-18 08:39:37

This is not real. They are characters. Why listen if you don't enjoy it? I am stunned that people bother.

merlotgran Sun 18-Mar-18 16:47:40

Yet another storyline that went nowhere but Ambridge folk seem to have been conditioned not to bother the doctor. I bet Henry and Jack never get tummy bugs or tonsillitis.

He must have an easy life. He didn't even have to turn out for Nic.

Elrel Sun 18-Mar-18 16:12:06

Yes she was, but he was more interested in eligible widow Elizabeth it seemed!

Luckygirl Sun 18-Mar-18 16:09:18

Ah yes - she was sniffing round him a bit when he last surfaced in Ambridge.

Lazigirl Sun 18-Mar-18 15:34:07

Cue: Enter Dr Richard Locke, Stage left.

NfkDumpling Sun 18-Mar-18 13:04:10

Poor Alistair. There's a lot to be said for a boring, well paid husband who doesn't interfere. I hope he has a fling and makes Shula realise what she had.

Luckygirl Sun 18-Mar-18 12:28:41

Silly Shula. Such a boring character.

Nelliemoser Sun 18-Mar-18 12:08:47

I remember the night on Lakey Hill with Neil and more annoyingly Shulas moral anguish about her "immorality" with a fling (I think with Dr Locke,) when Daniel had his juvenile arthritis.

Nelliemoser Sun 18-Mar-18 12:00:06

Yes Shula and Alistair were always very earnest and boring and came over as terribly respectable.
I do suspect that the scriptwriters might just have felt the same and gone out of their way to be a little spiteful to them.

It is something I could imagine script writers might just feel inclined to do with a character that annoys them.
(Well I would be inclined to do this. )

AyjayF Sun 18-Mar-18 11:43:42

Anyone else remember when Shula + Neil spent a night together on Lakey Hill??

MawBroon Sun 18-Mar-18 11:10:43

I would be agog with indifference at Shula’s and Alastair’s marital problems, except for the fact that as the two dullest people in Ambridge/on earth, they deserve each other. hmm

Nelliemoser Sun 18-Mar-18 10:58:18

The image of David and Alistair sorting through Shulas' knicker drawer is just too much for a Sunday morning.??
