Can't find the old thread.

How silly the Matt storyline is - like the Rob storyline it is OTT. No-one is as villainous as Matt is being portrayed - they have just made him a stereotype of evil and it is ridiculous. I have never met anyone who encapsulates evil to this degree.

Stop it now you crazy scriptwriters and give as some storylines that reflect real life.

I never thought Shula and Alistair were that well suited. Looking at my village they need more older single women - unless we just happen to attract them.

Sorry if that was too much of a spoiler - it's early and I wasn't thinking. blush

NfkDumpling Wed 14-Mar-18 06:41:59

This'll send Will over the edge when it gets out!

I think Shula held up very well! I'd have been expecting a surprise weekend in Paris at the very least!

So now we know what Nice told Joe with her dying breath........hard to be interested really apart from to wonder if Joe will tell Harrison
I almost felt sorry for Shula tonight - she didn't seem impressed with the curry idea!

Ah! Haven't listen again but I thought that was the bit Jenny repeated back to him which left me thinking "when did he say that". No matter - we know now. I wonder where that story line is going though?

merlotgran Mon 05-Mar-18 13:26:35

He eventually told her he was paid by the people who dumped the waste but it might have been in the next episode.

GracesGranMK2 Mon 05-Mar-18 13:23:59

But he only started to tell her in that episode, didn't he? Jenny filled in quite a bit more in her tirade.

'As Pat leaves Home Farm, Brian rolls in. She takes the opportunity to tell him how her family feel that he's being badly treated. She gets only a grunt for in reply and leaves. He apologises again to his wife about his abominable behaviour towards her. She tries to understand, he's a good man caught up in circumstances. But he has an admission to make, a secret to share. It's eating away at him. He's known all along that there was something nasty buried on his land.'

From Lowfied 22nd Feb.

I think he started to talk to Jenny on one episode and then we heard what it was about from Jenny in on another episode. Otherwise I think a few of us missed one particular episode which seems unlikely - but not impossiblesmile

NfkDumpling Sun 04-Mar-18 22:06:13

That must be the episode I missed. Thanks. I may look back to find it, I think I may have enjoyed it - don’t want to hear the Nic one though, much too upsetting. I’m going to miss her.

merlotgran Sun 04-Mar-18 22:01:58

I thought he confessed to Jenny that he did know what was in the drums and was paid to allow them to be dumped. He did it because he was empire building so a bit financially stretched although he was at pains to point out to Jenny that he was supporting her children at the time.

NfkDumpling Sun 04-Mar-18 21:51:43

Aha, so Brian didn’t actually know (or care) what was in the drums. So he hasn’t actually lied as such, just economical with the truth and Jenny caught him out?

Nannarose Sun 04-Mar-18 21:02:57

Its 'proper' name used to be septicaemia, blood poisoning being the 'lay' term.
It has become shortened to 'sepsis' and I'm not sure exactly why, but I think in line with international terms that make understanding research much easier.

I think but am not certain that Brian took money to allow the rubbish to be dumped.

NfkDumpling Sun 04-Mar-18 19:42:35

I managed to miss Nic’s demise and Brian’s confession - but I did know Nic had scratched her wrist as I remember thinking she was silly not to wash it. Blood vessels, dirty old rust not being compatible.

Please can someone tell me what Brian did? Did he actually dump the rubbish or just know about it?

Elrel Sat 03-Mar-18 15:04:01

When did 'blood poisoning' become 'sepsis'?

silverlining48 Fri 02-Mar-18 12:38:47

It was a surprise and all seemed very fast in the story, but that’s what it is, fast.
I heard the item on r4 today and if it’s as obvious as the Archers producer was describing then how is it 44,000 people die from it every year. Unfortunately Its not that easy to diagnose.

Nannarose Fri 02-Mar-18 10:07:14

Although I completely agree that a lot of Archers'pacing is not true to life- the sepsis one was.

Lazigirl Fri 02-Mar-18 09:44:34

Don't fret all. Nic alive and well. Heard her on Today prog this am.

GracesGranMK2 Thu 01-Mar-18 09:58:27

My only complaint would be that the Nic story went so quickly. I like the normal to life pacing of the Archers - but of course that may well have been.

As a series it has always had its more comic aspect but I don't see Jennifer as that. You only have to read the "estranged" threads on here to see how easy it is to get it wrong or get at cross purposes. That's what this seems to be to me - just a playing out of characters.

Lazigirl Thu 01-Mar-18 09:49:29

Yes Merlot becoming a total farce. Death one day, Carry On the next! What other treats in store confused

Elrel Wed 28-Feb-18 22:31:23

TMI from Roy for me. Especially his ancient Villa boxers! Poor Lexi. Maybe she should move in with Adam and Ian. Though that would not get her away from JD's insulting attempts to control her diet.
I seem to be losing interest in what's going on, I feel as if TA has, for me, lost its steady, predictable rhythms.

merlotgran Wed 28-Feb-18 19:46:04

Heavens! Jennifer's dinner party sounded like something out of a Carry On film.

I think I'd rather get back to the doom and gloom and knowing what Nic actually said to Joe.

Luckygirl Wed 28-Feb-18 11:47:24

I think it was meningitis on Call the Midwife.

Yes - good to hear Jenny pointing out that Brian has been less than perfect over the years!

AyjayF Wed 28-Feb-18 11:06:32

Signature? Where did that come from? A dig.!!!

AyjayF Wed 28-Feb-18 11:05:37

I think Brian has only confessed to Jenny Dahling.
She took the opportunity to get a signature in about his affairs + secrecy. At last!!
