Can't find the old thread.

How silly the Matt storyline is - like the Rob storyline it is OTT. No-one is as villainous as Matt is being portrayed - they have just made him a stereotype of evil and it is ridiculous. I have never met anyone who encapsulates evil to this degree.

Stop it now you crazy scriptwriters and give as some storylines that reflect real life.

I think she was a bit Elrel. She was happy running the stables but showed herself as an excellent foil to George, the bluff northerner which gave us some insight into her character.

She has had some really difficult 'life happens' events along the way and I feel happy that her character shows, as she is getting older (86), that she is less able to cope with difficulties. For some, the more you have to cope with the less you have to draw on. I think her moving in with Peggy was a good story thread as this character might well have done that imo.

Is the trust legit or has Matt scarpered with the money?

Elrel Mon 20-Nov-17 21:03:01

Was Christine always such a wet? Did she have more mettle when she ran the stables? Or maybe she's ill, she's had an awful shock I know but seemed to just drip sadly around before that.
Alfie seems to have been fast tracked in as a suitable match for Pip, poor lad. I think she'll have competition after the teen idol description she gave Lily!

It was in a trust for her and Justin bought it from the trust. She must either have the money he paid or the money is now in the trust.

I thought Lilian had just got the Dower house from Matt in her own name?

mrshat Wed 15-Nov-17 14:29:59

My bet is on Shula! She really had it in for Matt. I think she's losing the plot grin

I love that about grandmothers and granddaughters Merlot Haven't heard it before!

merlotgran Tue 14-Nov-17 23:07:51

Does Home Farm still have a spare room?

GracesGranMK2 Tue 14-Nov-17 23:01:41

He got her house! Could Philip the Builder come to the rescue?

NfkDumpling Tue 14-Nov-17 22:47:04

Don’t like Justin. Don’t trust him. Too much self interest hidden in there.

merlotgran Tue 14-Nov-17 22:38:01

I'm loving the relationship between Peggy and Noluthando.

They say that grandmothers and their granddaughters are united by a common enemy......The mother!! grin

Nellie - I'm a Kate fan, so far as the Archers goes, she is a brilliant character. Her relationship with Brian is comedy genius. Kate has been great entertainment value for years. It's all Me Me MeMe - you'd want to throttle her is she was your adult daughter but her story lines are superb. Yurts indeed. Chakras- babies conceived at Glastobury etc, dumping children in South Africa and coming home to exploit mummy and daddy, again. Bring it on, we need some light relief in Ambridge.

GracesGranMK2 Tue 14-Nov-17 20:57:22

I wasn't that keen on Justin before ...

merlotgran Tue 14-Nov-17 19:40:20

Justin is treating Lilian like a piece of dirt as well as reminding her she now doesn't have a roof over her head to call her own.

Do they still have a spare room vacant at Home Farm?

Nelliemoser Tue 14-Nov-17 18:23:38

starbird I like Kate Aldridge. She has always been the same and she is a delight as a dramatic character. She is "all about me". A total pain in the arse as some people are in real life.
There has to be someone like that in such dramas .

It keeps people interested and her behaviour fits everthing we already know about her. Very good script writing.

Matt has either escaped abroad or is banged up as he isn't in next week's cast......................Freddie and Noluthando both are though!! I think Christine's cruise prize might be another Matt scam too! The police are really on the case now. A new editor is needed for The Archers; could we write the scripts collectively? grin

Iam64 Mon 13-Nov-17 20:11:17

Nelliemoser- I've wondered about that, especially since Matt discharged himself from hospital and went into hiding at Grey Gables.
I've been away so missed out on Sunday and to night's episodes will try and listen now.

NfkDumpling Mon 13-Nov-17 20:09:17

I think it was a hit man for the rich, foreign race horse owner chappie.

Nelliemoser Mon 13-Nov-17 18:02:15

I am begining to think that Matt's attacker might not be someone from Ambridge, but someone else who is after him.

Lazigirl Mon 13-Nov-17 17:47:10

If Matt has to wait as long queuing to get through airport security as real mortals, with his stash in the cases too, he's no chance of getting away. But as grumppa said, if we think the police are competent hmmhmm

starbird Mon 13-Nov-17 17:37:40

Lilian gave Matt an hour as he asked, so he might get away and we will never know what's in the suitcase.
He might need to spend it all on cancelled flights!

Let's hope it was Nollitande or whatever she's called, who borrowed a car and hit Matt, I can't stand her (or her mother). But if it is attempted murder and a CID matter, why didn't Harrison get contact details from Matt as he would have to give evidence at a trial?

grumppa Mon 13-Nov-17 00:17:54

You think the police are that competent?

merlotgran Sun 12-Nov-17 22:47:52

I'm glad Lilian phoned the police. It's the only chance we have of finding out what was in the suitcases.

GracesGranMK2 Sun 12-Nov-17 22:31:53

Sorry grumppa, it would have made more sense if I had quoted. You probably do live with or at least near people like the characters ... and then the next bit.

grumppa Sun 12-Nov-17 22:19:48

I probably do what, GracesGranMK2, or should that be whom?
