Can't find the old thread.

How silly the Matt storyline is - like the Rob storyline it is OTT. No-one is as villainous as Matt is being portrayed - they have just made him a stereotype of evil and it is ridiculous. I have never met anyone who encapsulates evil to this degree.

Stop it now you crazy scriptwriters and give as some storylines that reflect real life.

My moneys on Adam

eGJ Wed 01-Nov-17 12:17:00

Well could it be James? Didn't he have an altercation with Matt when they last met. There's this new character Philip. And how about Adam who was driving home and that's just across The Green. We know he punched Matt! Or could it be Rex the only taxi driver we know in Ambridge; he could have been driving fast back from Scotland to pick up Matt. Or what about Anisha????? She has previous experience of driving fast?

We are on tenterhooks until all is revealed next week. Matt is in the cast next week, but of course it could be one of his voice messages grin

No - you are right. Roy and Lexi are on the brink!

Iam64 Tue 31-Oct-17 19:55:26

I do hope it isn't to do with Lexi - I've only just started listening regularly again after a few very silly busy months. Isn't Roy starting a relationship with Lexi? If I've got this wrong, please let me know

Lazigirl Tue 31-Oct-17 19:30:29

Oh dear shysal wish I didn't know that. Just as Roy's life is starting to go well. Can it be something to do with Phoebe? Where was she the night of the accident? Life changing........the mind boggles. Whoops, I said I wasn't going to listen to TA anymore!

Nelliemoser Tue 31-Oct-17 18:31:21

I haven't thought of reading today's RT. They do an edited summary of the following weeks program.

The SWs are becoming far too "Eastenders."
I can hear it all tonight as my Tuesday choir is half an hour later than Mondays.

maryeliza54 Tue 31-Oct-17 17:29:37

shysal that sounds really scarey - it must be to do with the accident. Perhaps he spots a damaged car?

maryeliza54 Tue 31-Oct-17 17:27:13

We don’t know what’s in the suitcases but we can have a good guess I expect.

gillybob Tue 31-Oct-17 17:14:28

Well I am a new archers addict!

I have been listening for about a year now and am totally hooked although just picking up the back stories as I go along. I really love (to hate) the character of Matt so I do hope he pulls through. I cringe when he calls Lillian "pusscat" it goes right through me.

Have I missed what's in the suitcases stashed in the pub?

merlotgran Tue 31-Oct-17 16:14:08

Hope it wasn't Phoebe popping back for a surprise visit. shock

shysal Tue 31-Oct-17 15:22:53

Bought my Radio Times for next week today. The Ambridge Diary tells of Roy's turmoil following his shocking discovery. His attempt to do the right thing backfires with potentially life-changing consequences. Wonder what that is all about. Could it be to do with the car crash? thlhmm

Elrel Tue 31-Oct-17 00:33:02

Was Alistair still at the ball?
Sooner or later someone is going to discover and open Matt's suitcases. Will that be interesting?

Luckygirl Mon 30-Oct-17 22:32:26

Just realised that I missed the relevant episode - no wonder I am a bit puzzled! Just listened to it. Hmm - the Archers is starting to sound like Midsomer Murders crossed with Eastenders!

Freddy & Nolly are only off their faces in their own minds. I grew up in an area where old people still knew about the hallucinogenic properties of some mushrooms and how to handle & prepare them and we were warned about them as children.
Freddy & Nolly would have been very ill, very quickly if they had just eaten them as they appeared to. I think they just gobbled down some ordinary funghi and persuaded themselves into a state.

GracesGranMK2 Mon 30-Oct-17 19:43:40

Tales of a Tiger: Kim Durham on Matt Crawford - contains an audio of just the crash.

GracesGranMK2 Mon 30-Oct-17 19:25:32

It could be someone who didn't know it was them. We heard a car stop. Someone walk around a little, get back in the car and drive off. It wouldn't be unreasonable for them to think it was a deer. That wouldn't let them off the hook of course but they may behave very naturally until it occurs to them it was their car.

Iam64 Mon 30-Oct-17 18:29:42

No no it can't be Tom because the Bridge Farm lot have been through too much already. It has to be that dreadful cat, or the taxi driver.
It can't be Brain, what would we do without his exasperation at the antics of Kate. It can't be Tom (see above), it can't be Freddie or Nolly, just because they're silly, young and off their faces on magic mushrooms doesn't mean I want them to be so very bad as to run Matt over, then drive off.
It can't be Nic, it just can't. She's doing her best.
If it's Lillian, she has to get off with it.
Justin wouldn't have yet reached the Green (I hope)
Who was Matt's plus one at the hunt ball to be? Could it have been either Latiffe, Miranda or Matts mysterious business partner.
What was in Matts suitcase.
Could it be that Matt's business partner or some other so far unknown crook has Done for Him.

merlotgran Mon 30-Oct-17 18:18:12

I don't think it was Justin because it sounded as though the car was coming at speed from quite a long way off. Justin left the Bull to look for Matt so he would probably have only just pulled out of the car park if he was in his car at all.

What about Tom?

Iam64 Mon 30-Oct-17 18:00:07

merlotgran - when Adam said he was off home, my first thought was to hope he didn't plan to get in his car as no doubt he'd had a glass of wine or two, if nothing else with his dinner.
Justin definitely had a drink - Nolli and Freddie had been at the magic mushrooms, I do hope it wasn't Freddie driving.
I'm still hoping it was Hilda, the murderous cat, or the taxi driver who came to pick Matt up.

Nannarose Mon 30-Oct-17 15:09:16

Have to share that I have a fantastic neighbour, who laughs just like Lillian ( and, no, she's not an actor!)

merlotgran Mon 30-Oct-17 13:34:43

Memo to PC Burns:

'We're giving you a list of suspects so don't forget to look for dents on all their cars.'

It's many, many years since I went to a hunt ball but I sure as heck didn't have any intention of driving home. Justin must have been drinking and probably Adam as well?

GracesGranMK2 Mon 30-Oct-17 13:29:04

I love it - we will have to "listen very carefully". Thinking about Shula, she did seem noticed by lots of other characters at the ball so I think she has moved down my list.

Iam64 Mon 30-Oct-17 13:13:15

I hope it wasn't Adam or Nik. It's like a Miss Marple isn't it, none of the main suspects have an alibi.
I am happy to suspend belief on the not realistic front because the Archers is my only soap and I don't want to give it up.
Those of us who have never met anyone as wicked as Rob or Matt have been very lucky. They may be few and far between these bad people, but they do exist sadly.

chelseababy Mon 30-Oct-17 12:44:04

I assumed it was Adam

chloe1984 Mon 30-Oct-17 12:17:57

Lilian will confess to her undying love at Matt’s bedside and hopefully they will both disappear as the current scriptwriters obsession with sex mad 70 year olds makes me feel somewhat inadequate.
