Agree lemongrove a marvelous book from a very talented writer. I have a few of his books and DS studied one for A level English a couple of years back.

Another thank you from me. I have watched the first two episodes and thoroughly enjoyed them. I don’t know how I missed it the first time round as it is my kind of tv. I am looking forward to the next two episodes.

travelsafar thank you for your recommendation. I looked for this on All 4 and have thoroughly enjoyed it over the last couple of days! It feels like the kind of production that will live on in the memory.

Glad you enjoyed Auntieflo i can recommend 'A Dance to the music in time' as well, set again in the 30's about the intertwinning of life for some young friends at univercity. It follows them up to old age.
How the privileged back in those days lived really interests me and i can see how the 'old boys network' was established back in the day. Life at Oxford or Cambridge seems so appealing to me,so this type of program really hits the spot for me.

Travelsafar, thanks for the recommendation for 'Any Human Heart'. I did enjoy it and watched it in two chunks.

Thanks to those who recommended this book. I've just got it on kindle and am enjoying it very much so far. I must search out the film, but probably best to finish the book first.

Oh I love this, watched it when it was first broadcast ages ago, think I’ll watch it again.

Its one of my favoutite books. I couldn't bear to watch it as a film. They often don't get the clothing right.

I couldn't find it either, not even on catch up . Shame, hope it will be aired again sometime soon.

I have just read this book, thought it was wonderful, so I looked for it on catch up.It isn’t there ( or maybe is for a download for a device) but not for tv.It was a mini series apparently from 7 years ago, but can be bought as a dvd on Amazon.
I doubt it could be anywhere near as good as the book though, as Logan has so many ‘thoughts’ that can’t be filmed.

It is a wonderful series, and very true to the book as I recall. Jim Broadbent was superb. I watched it when it was on two or three years ago, or it may have been 4 or 5 as time runs away with me these days

Nana3 Sat 18-Aug-18 09:38:28

Thanks travelsafar, I'm always looking for programs to watch.

MawBroon Sat 18-Aug-18 07:33:33

Thank you for the tip off.
I haven’t watched lit but will as I loved the book. William Boyd can tell a good story can’t he?
DH knew him at school years ago and I was always sorry I never met him.

Has anyone else watched this series on CH4 catch up. It totally grabbed me and i had to carry on right to the last episode as i was desperate to find out what happend.
Jim Broadbent stars in the leading role and was brilliant. It is the portrayal of a writer and starts right from his young life through to old age. Loved it and would highly recommend if you haven't seen it.
