Excellent start to this new series ,brilliant edge of the seat scenes on the train.I've never come across this actor before but he is very believable.I'm looking forward to tomorrows instalment.I suppose it should have been expected that it was good as its from the people who made Line of Duty ,one of my favourite series'

Loved the use of the robot to enable defusing too is this an insight into what bomb disposal actually involves?
Yes, I think they have been used for years, perhaps more sophisticated like that one now.

Jalima1108 Tue 02-Oct-18 15:13:15

ilovecheese yes, I thought they could have had/been having a relationship and it was more than just money involved between gangster and policewoman.
Perhaps the face was their child as you said.

I must be one of ‘they’ because I think Gina McKee is brilliant.

humptydumpty Wed 26-Sept-18 15:29:33

I really enjoyed the last episode - lots of untied ends, but who cares, maybe they will be revisited in the next series? I thought the twist at the end was great, and I loved that the whole series came round in a full circle smile Loved the use of the robot to enable defusing too is this an insight into what bomb disposal actually involves?

Have to say I agree about Gina McKee but they must think she's brilliant because she gets a lot of work.

Greyduster Wed 26-Sept-18 11:15:56

I assumed it was a distorted combination of compromising and material. Or am I missing something?

Witzend Wed 26-Sept-18 10:36:44

Must say that while I enjoyed it, I found the final episode a bit unbelievable and disappointing. Such excellent acting from the bodyguard, though!
As for Gina McKee, I've always somehow found her irritating, ever since she was in the remake of The Forsyte Saga. Don't quite know what it is - her lack of facial expression?

Am I alone in never having watched the show? I might have to find the time to watch it on i-Player. hmm

Alima Tue 25-Sept-18 09:46:20

Phew. (Don’t get the Radio Times).

MawBroon Tue 25-Sept-18 09:13:54

From the Radio Times

Had you ever heard of “kompromat” before watching the BBC’s Bodyguard? You’d be forgiven for hastily googling the term at the heart of the plot of Jed Mercurio‘s gripping drama which described the incriminating evidence on the Prime Minister passed to Keeley Hawes’ Home Secretary Julia Montague. You’re not alone
Glad I am not alone ! grin

Alima Tue 25-Sept-18 09:06:52

Anyone else have to look up “kompramat”?

lemongrove Tue 25-Sept-18 08:59:43

I agree maggiemaybe what a great last episode, explosive you might say.grin
We were on the edge of the sofa watching it ( no greater compliment to tv!)

Nandalot Mon 24-Sept-18 23:03:12

Ayjay, wasn’t the kompramat there as well as the bullets? How else did all the damaging stuff about the pm get out?

Ilovecheese Mon 24-Sept-18 15:04:42

I wondered if the face at the window was Craddick's grown up child, and that the gangster was the father, so giving her more of a motive for corruption that just money.
(or perhaps I am overthinking!)

Maggiemaybe Mon 24-Sept-18 13:57:20

I thought it was fabulous, good enough to rival Line of Duty. Watching it with the family last night we laid our bets at the start as to who the main baddie was and none of us came close to suspecting Nadia's involvement. I scored half a point by having Craddick down as the corrupt police officer. The motive would be plain old-fashioned greed surely? The face at the window's a great teaser for series 2!

Yes, of course much of it was complete hokum, but if I wanted reality I wouldn't have switched on!

trisher Mon 24-Sept-18 12:42:25

I thought it was great on suspense but a bit short on reality. I assume the reason the Muslim woman didn't blow up the train was because she was a plant to get him involved? After all she must already have built the bomb for the Home Secretary and his suicide vest. Which is where it gets really unbelievable. If you are unconscious when your thumb is taped to a dead man's switch won't it stay there when you are shot?
And about the Home Secretary's bomb being pressure activated such people are usually introduced with a little speech from someone else if it was pressure activated wouldn't they have set it off?
Still it was gripping and good Sunday night escapism.

Willow10 Mon 24-Sept-18 12:23:43

I thoroughly enjoyed the series but must admit that with some of these dramas, the plot gets so complicated - half the time I have no idea who is who or what is going on! I do tend to get a bit critical at times, thinking 'that would NEVER happen!' in certain situations. Then I have to remind myself that it is entertainment - not real!

AyjayF Mon 24-Sept-18 12:01:42

It was the blank bullets that were buried. The tablet is still in the boiler!

AcornFairy Mon 24-Sept-18 11:19:48

Can't wait for series 2 - so many answered questions. Compromising material, wife's boyfriend, person at the window, getaway car, etc. etc. Bring it on!

Craftycat Mon 24-Sept-18 10:50:45

A bit disappointed TBH.
No way would he have been allowed to walk through London with a bomb attached to him- that was just ridiculous. Plus he would not have been allowed to defuse it himself & then oh! so easy to get it off & run away.
I liked the fact that woman in train was in fact guilty in the end which tied beginning in but all in all I thought the end let the series down. It never even occurred to me that the bomb would go off- not for a moment.
Shame as I was totally hooked all the way through until last night. DH has not seen it yet so am having to keep shtum!

merlotgran Mon 24-Sept-18 10:39:33

What is the matter with Gina McKee's face. Has she had a botox malfunction? One eye was practically closed last night and she's had a lop sided look all series.

Parsley3 Mon 24-Sept-18 10:35:23

Thank goodness for the cheesy ending. Dave/David deserved a break. The defusing of the bomb scene was so tense. Jed Mercurio is a writer who just would blow up the leading man so I was surprised and relieved that he didn’t.
Line of Duty is coming back. Yeah!

PECS Mon 24-Sept-18 10:34:46

How did Nadia organise the school attack?? Did I misunderstand her involvement in that? She would have been in prison. confused

merlotgran Mon 24-Sept-18 10:28:06

I was confused by the burying of 'Compromat' as well. I was expecting it to still be in the boiler.

I watched him defusing the bomb with my fingers in my ears. grin

TwiceAsNice Mon 24-Sept-18 10:22:08

It was a it far fetched in bits but loved it to the end. The only thing which really annoyed me because of my job was when he went to see the counsellor
1, she wouldn't sit with a desk between them and
2 It wouldn't be Occ health it would be a specialist in trauma and PTSD. I'm fed up about therapists being misrepresented on television
