That sound interesting annodomini. It’s making me think of the Derick Jarmon film of The Tempest from the 70s or early 80s.

I think they are due to stay on IPlayer for the rest of the year.

There was also a really good new modern day setting of King Lear with Anthony Hopkins on BBC TV a month or so before the trilogy. Unfortunately it only stayed on IPlayer for a week or two, otherwise I would have rewatched it a few times. However a new Hamlet on BBC TV and IPlayer around the same time wasn’t anything special. That only stayed on IPlayer for a limited time as well. I think it was an Irish actor playing Hamlet but not someone I recognised.

Why does this duplication - or triplication - keep happening? Tony2018, as you enjoyed these productions, you might enjoy Margaret Attwood's novel, Hag-seed. The main event in it is the production of The Tempest in a men's prison. A really good read.

I saw Julius Caesar some months ago and will look for the other two on i-Player. Thanks for the information.

Has anyone seen the all female cast Shakespeare trilogy on BBC iPlayer? They were on TV a month or two ago and now on iPlayer. Its a Donmar Warehouse production. The three plays are Julius Caesar, Henry IV part II and The Tempest.

The conceit behind the staging is that the plays are being performed by women prisoners in a women's prison.

The older main lead actress who plays Brutus, Henry IV and Prospero is absolutely fantastic, the only thing I'd seen her in before was a headmistress of a girls' school in an episode of Poiroit!

I thought all three plays were brilliant.
