It’s not Christmas without watching some Carry On films.

Has anyone plans to watch one, and which one?

Carry On Up the Khyber is on ITV player at the moment and watched it last night. It’s got to be one of the best.

I'm a big fan of Carry On films.
I shall hopefully be finding some to watch. smile

Carry On Camping----that woman with the " laugh " which sounds as though she's drawing breath each time.
I love the gang of them. There are no more good comedies like that any more.

I've not long watched " A kid for Two Farthings ". The little boy who bought a goat off a tramp thinking it was a unicorn because of the single stubble of horn on the little goat. David Kossoff,Diana Dors,Carneira.

I'm looking forward to scouring YouTube for Christmas TV Specials with Morecambe and Wise, The Two Ronnies plus a chance to watch all my box set of "Only Fools and Horses" DVDs. Marvellous!

Just checked the TV guide, ITV3 channel 10 is showing Carry On films all day on Christmas Day. Plus there are some on More4 channel 14 as well.

Must admit that I'm a Carry On fan and shall be recording non-stop on Christmas Day, however I do have one gripe ITV3 seem determined to stop our fun and have cut out all the best bit. That's the trouble with watching them so many times I know what is coming next and I get cross when my favourite bits are no longer there!

Follow that Camel, Carry on Screaming , and Carry on Camping are all on later today as well. Thank you ITV3.

This is about the first Christmas for years I haven’t watched any of the three On the Buses films. Love Olive and Arthur and poor old Blakey ?

I hate them.

MissAdventure Tue 25-Dec-18 16:26:46

I can understand why, to be honest.
Anything with characters called 'Professor Tinkle' is alright by me. smile

Maybe I’m overthinking things, but in Carry on up the Jungle, I always wonder why Joan Sims likes both Frankie Howard and Sid James, but doesn’t like Kenneth Connor.

MissAdventure Tue 25-Dec-18 17:15:51

Maybe you are, but you're right. Connor was never the ladies man in any of the films, was he?

StillGame Tue 25-Dec-18 18:36:02

I think Joan Sims considers him to be an underling in Up the Jungle, as he is just the assistant, or maybe he is too short. I always feel a bit sorry for him when Joan Sims is quite happy when she thinks it’s either Frankie Howard or Sid James feeling her up, but slaps him when she thinks it’s him.

He was a bit of a ladies man in some of the early black and white Carry On’s. He is Dora Bryan’s love interest in Carry on Seargent although he was a hypochondriac and she had to do all the chasing.

Ah yes.. "Phwoar! Norah!"

That was a great Carry on Christmas. Really enjoyed spotting Valerie Leon, sometimes she has a tiny role and is just standing around with nothing to say, sometimes it’s a reasonably substantial one such as in Carry
On Girls and Carry On up the Jungle.

What the last really good 1970s Carry On film?

I’d go for ^Carry on Behind^from 1975. Love Elkie Summer and Kenneth Williams together, Windsor Davies with Jack Douglas, and nice roles for Kenneth Connors as Major Leap, Joan’s and Bernard Breslau. Lovely role for Joan Sims who gets together with Peter Butterworth.

Carry On Dick is another late favourite from 1974 as I do love the ones with historical settings and Sid James’ character is quite a bit different.

Carry on Girls is another late Carry On guilty pleasure, which is probably around 1973.

The only one I really don’t like is Carry on England which I found to be mean spirited.
