Finished watching four series of Line of Duty, suffering withdrawal. Watched Vera, Endeavour, Broadchurch, Midsummer Murders etc. What’s left ?

Anniebach Wed 10-Apr-19 14:04:25

I like to record a series before watching, waiting a week ? No

Apropos of the other thread on "The Widow" you may like that Annie, largely filmed in Africa, but with a small part set in, and I imagine filmed in Powys smile Quite a gripping start.

Anyway you will be getting the second "Keeping Faith" later this year first in Wales before it's rolled out to the rest of us. Something to look forward to.

Paddy Considine a good actor.

The Suspicions of Mr Whicher was the series with the scruffy detective--------although I liked him.

Pie in the Sky with the wonderful Richard Griffiths. I'm sure the episodes are available on Catch Up Annie
They are on the Drama channel at the moment. So many now familiar faces are appearing in the programmes, younger versions of - of course.
What about Dalziel and Pascoe too? I like Dalziel's non PC wit and comments. Good plots too.

The Missing, Series 2, is one of the best I have watched. It is on BBCiPlayer at the moment.

DH enjoyed Peaky Blinders and Ripper Street.

At the moment we've got The Victim on BBC and The Widow on ITV. Both worth watching. And I'm enjoying The Bay.
But the absolute best is LIne of Duty.

Can’t find several of these programmes on Catch Up.

Would I find them on Netflix or is it as American as SKY?

I prefer watching real-life documentaries on Crime. I'm wired wrong I guess.

paddyann Tue 09-Apr-19 22:03:24

The Australian one with Craig McLachlan is good,Doctor Blake I think its called set in the 50's

Maggiemaybe Tue 09-Apr-19 21:49:19

that other series with the bearded creepy chap

Was that Whitechapel? I was bereft when they cancelled it. I can’t remember a creepy chap though, just a very handsome detective....

I want to rewatch the Sopranos sometime. Our daughter kept telling us we should watch it ,and initially I wasn't sure but it was brilliant,on so may levels. Not British I know.
DH and I have also really enjoyed the scandi crime series such as Wallander, the Bridge and The Killing.I quite like the subtitles as it makes me really concentrate.Trapped set in Iceland is also very good.
DH all watch any Poirot,Miss Marple ,Morse or Lewis over and again.

KatyK Tue 09-Apr-19 20:16:30

I'm fond of him too pat . He's a troubled soul.

paddyann Tue 09-Apr-19 19:39:27

you could always go right back to Taggart ,I love the old episodes where theres not too much blood and guts ,but I'll watch almost any crime drama,When I was a young teen I worked my way through every Agatha Christie in a few months ,I love David Suchets Poirot and there have been some C films on in the afternoons recently

EllanVannin Tue 09-Apr-19 19:19:36

Ripper Street and that other series with the bearded creepy chap, a Victorian crime series of plays.

pensionpat Tue 09-Apr-19 18:34:47

I became very fond of Tony Soprano, despite everything.

KatyK Tue 09-Apr-19 18:05:44

Lots of bad language and violence in The Sopranos. The men are thugs but strangely I don't want anything bad to happen to them!

Maggiemaybe Tue 09-Apr-19 18:03:57

No Offence was very good. We needed the subtitles though, because the wisecracks came thick and fast.

pensionpat Tue 09-Apr-19 18:03:51

It’s hard to choose between all three of them. I love gritty dramas. I can tolerate foul language because I’m sure it’s realistic.

KatyK Tue 09-Apr-19 17:54:55

Pat I've seen Peaky Blinders. DH watched Breaking Bad as did most of my family. He has bought T-shirts with slogans from it on them. I haven't seen it but am going to watch it when we've exhausted The Sopranos. Apparently it was voted the best American series ever made.

KatyK Tue 09-Apr-19 17:51:19

Oh yes The Walton's Annie .smile

pensionpat Tue 09-Apr-19 17:33:15

Katy K. Try Breaking Bad and Peaky Blinders

Anniebach Tue 09-Apr-19 17:32:04

Really Katy ? I should stop being sooo anti American programmes . I did enjoy The Waltons ?

KatyK Tue 09-Apr-19 17:22:37

Yes Sky is very American. Mind you we have recently started watching The Sopranos which is old and which I never fancied. We are hooked. It's brilliant.

Anniebach Tue 09-Apr-19 17:15:22

Thank you, I have downloaded ‘Shetland’, ‘Cheat’ , I did enjoy Happy Valley and the others named here. am recording ‘The Bay’, too impatient to wait a week for each episode, like to record a series then watch .

SKY is sooo America!
