For my late father, it was The Archers theme music, which he referred to as the “dum- de-dums “
At the first notes he would do a Usain Bolt across the room to turn the radio off.
For me, I’m afraid it is The Listening Project.
Intrusive? Boring? I don’t know, I just can’t stand it.
(Just a Minute comes a close second!)

How the heck did my post get there????

Sorry.

Resurgam123 Mon 01-Jul-19 08:09:05

I find Brian Cox really ponderous and boring . He seems to talk without sounding at all enthusiatic .

Now Brian May is a different matter.

SparklyGrandma Sun 30-Jun-19 23:23:25

Maw sorry someone’s said that awful thing ?

Callistemon Sun 30-Jun-19 22:51:44

Whingeingmom - yes, whinge away, I'm with you. What is it with the name?
There are more, in fact I said this to DH a couple of weeks ago. We were in the car and Jeremy Vine came on the car radio and I started listing all the annoying Jeremies!

Callistemon Sun 30-Jun-19 22:48:47

How nasty, MawBroon - how could anyone be so insensitive?
Someone like that is not worth bothering with.

Stella14 Sun 30-Jun-19 22:20:35

Reality TV - Love Island and the like, Britain’s Got Talent and the like!

Overthehills Sun 30-Jun-19 22:16:04

Maw I think you’ll find that very few of us have any objection to you talking about Paw - what a nerve some people have!

Callistemon Sat 29-Jun-19 18:40:06

Love Brian Cox, but I must admit his voice can send me off to sleep.
I do try to concentrate grin

Bluecat Sat 29-Jun-19 18:14:05

I am amazed that people don't like Brian Cox. I think he's gorgeous and his voice is so soothing, though I wouldn't like to have to explain anything he says. 'Brain the size of a planet,' to quote the Hitchhiker's Guide.

sazz1 Sat 29-Jun-19 17:30:57

Not a theme tune but anything to do with Brexit. Just can't listen to it anymore sick to the back teeth of all the lies excuses and promises. Given up caring if we stay or leave but wish they could sort it one way or the other now. Indecisive idiot politicians.

hereshoping Sat 29-Jun-19 14:47:29

Political broadcasts.

Millie22 Sat 29-Jun-19 13:53:35

I am continually amazed by some of the things that people will complain about on here and in life generally. Why would anyone mind that you mention a loved one.

DanniRae Sat 29-Jun-19 12:35:48

Oh Maw I can't believe that a poster said that about you. Please. please ignore them and come on here and continue to share how you are feeling. What a dreadful person to post that about you - I am very shocked and very angry.
For you flowers
For them angry

moggie57 Sat 29-Jun-19 11:34:57

i agree she laughs like a horse.

moggie57 Sat 29-Jun-19 11:34:18

when everyone starts talking at once. !!! arrrghh.... esp american movies.....

MawBroonsback Sat 29-Jun-19 11:27:22

I hope nobody else objects to me mentioning Paw in this context.
I have been criticised by an unnamed (of course) poster as follows for
talking about your grief a lot. A "lot" compared with the number of times other regular writers mention the pain they are carrying at the loss of their husbands
To which I have one word
Tough.

MawBroonsback Sat 29-Jun-19 09:36:59

Tweedle flowers I could have written your post about ‘Sailing By’ for exactly the same reasons.
It takes me back to those dreadful days when it soothed me (sometimes) to sleep and now gives me a strong feeling of closeness to him.
Only difference is that I find myself sobbing quietly throughout. sad But I still love it.

yattypung Sat 29-Jun-19 04:19:55

specki4eyes pmsl at Amanda Holdens slapper laugh ?

Ant and Dec, I agree. Why?

specki4eyes Fri 28-Jun-19 16:43:44

Right! Now this is right up my street because I dont do Facebook or Twitter for anger management reasons grin!

Constant background music totally irrelevant to the programme or drama.
All incontinence panties adverts, but the one with the woman who says she has found pants that are "pratty" has me falling over to reach the remote.
Sarah Jane Mee on Sky Sunrise..an airhead who cannot deliver a piece to camera without constantly glancing at her tablet or waiting for the autocue to keep up.
Naga Monchetty - see above plus her vacant disinterested expression.
Alex Jones and everything else about the One Show.
Steve Wright.
Amanda Holden's slapper laugh.
Fiona Bruce's low drawl ...oh please its neither sexy nor expressive of gravitas.
Elaine Paige - everything about her, but most of all the laugh.
'Celebrity' anything but particularly quiz shows.
Reality TV.
The Archers - music AND plot lines.
Sandy Toxic (sp mistake deliberate)
Tennis commentators (who just relate tennis gossip), except John McEnroe.
Professor Brian Cox.
Ant and Dec - why they win ANYTHING is beyond me. THEY ARE NOT FUNNY!
Trivago woman.
THANK YOU GRANSNET, I FEEL BETTER NOW.[GRIN]

Tillybelle I too love, Sailing By, When my husband was ill and we were up most of the night, that lovely soothing music helped. For a while, after he died, I could not listen to it but, I have got over that and love it again,
As for the Shipping Forecast that follows it, I can forgive that, thinking of the ships’ crews that rely on it. I also, in my mind, follow the forecast around the coast.
