If you enjoy history especially about the Russian Czars and the revolution and Rasputin you will enjoy this. I was totally consumed by the series. It is in the form of a drama/documentry and works really well. Rasputin was an awful person, i think he would have been known as a sociapath nowadays, he had the Czar and his wife completely under his spell.

It’s on my to watch list. Summer is always difficult but long winter evenings allow me to catch up on a lot of stuff. I really need to start a list or I forget some stuff.

I will put this in my little notebook of things to watch. Thank you.

Oh thank you for this info! I love history and am much more interested in the past than the present. The Romanovs never cease to fascinate, especially all the film and photos of Nicholas and his family. What happened to them doesn't bear thinking about! Same with Louis XV1th!! I know they were everything everyone says, but their fate was truly terrible!

Binged this yesterday - absolutely loved it! Good format using drama undercut with old footage and historians giving their insights.. Learnt some new stuff which is always welcome! ?

I watched this on Netflix and found it totally compelling.
I never knew how big a part Rasputin had played in the Czar's family. It's fascinating.

Just finished it after binging on all six in one go with a couple of toilet breaks.

Read a lot about Anastasia over the years to the point where I almost wanted Ana Andersen to be her - was quite disappointed when Prince Philip agreed to give DNA sample and she was found to have no connection to the Romanovs.

Fascinating period of history though - wish I could’ve watched stuff like that at school, I’m sure I’d have done a lot better!

I watched this over the weekend and found it very interesting. I too liked the mix of historian input, old footage and dramatised events.

If anybody can recommend any more history based series on Netflix or Amazon Prime I would be grateful.
