Have just heard he died yesterday, aged only 65. How sad. Loved his wonderful music, especially the theme to Morse obviously.

I'm sorry to hear that news Calendargirl, that's so young. I agree with you, the 'Morse' theme always had a gentle, haunting quality about it.

Calendar girl that is really sad news. My partner and I loved his music on the Morse, Lewis and Endeavour tv programmes. I think he also wrote the music for the lovely film Truly, Madly, Deeply.

This is a sad start to the day ... but he left a beautiful catalogue of classical guitar music for us to enjoy.
RIP ??

Thanks- I loved his music. That is a young age to die.

That is sad, beautiful music especially the Morse theme. It’s no age he was a year younger than me. Brings your mortality home!

Oh no ?

Listening to his music makes me question what is the difference between classical music and 'other music' ie some theme tunes.

I would say that the theme tune to Morse is in the category of classical music.

I'm afraid I've never heard of him - but what a spectacular name!

Callistemon Sat 03-Aug-19 22:42:40

I remember the name coming up at every Morse episode and thinking what an unusual name it was.

It's sad, he was relatively young.

Callistemon Sat 03-Aug-19 22:45:09

I didn't realise that he was Australian, born in Manly.

So sad. We watched all the morse episodes and it became routine for my dh to say his name every time the credits came up. He found it such an unusual name it always stuck with him. R.I.P.
