Sad wasn't it?

Very well done though.

Can't believe lovely little Sinead won't be in it anymore.

sad

The children will be looked after by other family members, as there must be so many step, half and blended families on CS.

maddyone Thu 16-Jan-20 18:09:18

I’m amazed by how many of the characters supposedly have children, but the adults are always in the pub. Where are their children then?

sodapop Thu 16-Jan-20 17:45:33

Yes why do characters just disappear from soaps without explanation. I agree about Dev also Steve McDonald, he is a terrible actor too but does make me laugh at times.

BlueBelle Thu 16-Jan-20 17:15:25

I like Dev but he’s an abysmal actor really wooden
What happened to his daughter and her self harming did that fizzle out or did i miss it

Sara65 Thu 16-Jan-20 17:12:22

I don’t think I’ve ever gone out for breakfast in my life, do people actually do it? Or is it just a soap invention?

love0c Thu 16-Jan-20 17:09:21

Fed up of this storyline. Will be glad when it ends. Do so hope Geoff is caught out and is left on his uppers!! It is not only women who do what men want, it can be men doing what women want. A frightening situation for family members to watch either way.

Jane10 Thu 16-Jan-20 17:03:47

It's worse on Eastenders. Elastic sided houses and no visible means of earning a wage either for so many of the residents. Just buy a villa in Portugal? No bother!

Charleygirl5 Thu 16-Jan-20 16:21:01

I often wonder how so many of them have the money to buy breakfast so frequently at Roy's when they are either unemployed or probably earning the minimum wage. Where am I going wrong?

Sara65 Thu 16-Jan-20 16:19:54

I quite like the niece, I expect her and Karla will produce an amazing fashion label, and before we know it she’ll be a Karla clone.

NotTooOld Thu 16-Jan-20 16:10:16

Roy's flat must be full up but still he invites more people to stay there. Where is former businesswoman Carla going to go if the niece moves in? Isn't it about time Carla found herself a proper job or founded a dynasty or something? She must need the money to pay the hairdresser.

Sara65 Thu 16-Jan-20 15:46:40

I don’t find this storyline at all convincing, I’m probably naive, but I can’t see a feisty, intelligent woman like Yasmeen, being taken in, especially when surrounded by friends and family.

Jane10 Thu 16-Jan-20 14:30:52

I've never thought Yasmeen was a very convincing actress somehow. I find that storyline quite irritating. I am absolutely sure that sort of thing happens I hasten to add but it's not done well on Corrie.
Meanwhile, there are so many other stories going on too. What a soap!

GrandmaJan Thu 16-Jan-20 13:07:23

harrigran I can assure you Yasmeen’s story is believable (to me anyway) and I’ve witnessed this happening several times in my previous job. Domestic abuse is very real and I’ve just been out with 2 friends who I worked with and we discussed this storyline and recalled cases we knew about. Sadly this is happening and is so sad. I’m just wondering how long the writers are going to continue with this. Personally I hope for not much longer

Sara65 Thu 16-Jan-20 13:01:04

We complain about it constantly, but out of habit we keep watching, don’t really look forward to it anymore though.

Calendargirl Thu 16-Jan-20 12:58:16

I think David’s drugged rape seemed very topical last week when that serial date rape person was jailed for his awful crimes.

Charleygirl5 Thu 16-Jan-20 11:10:18

I could not agree more Doodledog, with Steve not far behind.

I had not noticed Summer was not there- has she gone for good? I do hope so.

harrigran Thu 16-Jan-20 11:08:06

I don't think the Yasmeen story seems that believable, if any man told me to do more housework or to do it properly he would be sporting panda eyes. Geoff will get his come uppance, the house is Yasmeen's, he is a freeloader. Last night he took her cards off her so a criminal too.

Doodledog Thu 16-Jan-20 10:44:21

I think the worst actor is Dev, by a country mile.

endlessstrife Thu 16-Jan-20 10:41:57

However frustrating the story lines are, they will strike a chord with someone. We do feel Corrie has lost something, but we keep watching. I’m just glad they seem to have removed Summer. She’s the worst actress they’ve had on there.

sodapop Thu 16-Jan-20 08:42:35

Yes you are right Grandma2213 when you are the person actually involved its much more difficult to see what's happening. I think its a good story line.

Grandma2213 Thu 16-Jan-20 00:47:29

Doodledog I agree. While we may all be shouting at the screen for Yasmeen to see what Geoff is doing, it is not so easy in real life. When your self confidence is continually being knocked it is not so simple. I am sure the situation will be resolved eventually as that's what soaps do and I'm sure Kathy will play a part in that resolution.

Doodledog Wed 15-Jan-20 23:43:45

She said tonight that she didn't drink when she was married out of respect for her husband. She has 'mellowed' over the years, from someone quite rigid in her views to a much more relaxed character since he left.

I think that even very strong people can be taken in by gaslighting. The gaslighter starts by making the victim feel so good that all they want is to get that feeling back. It can be quite destabilising when the nastiness starts, and the victim can't quite believe what is happening. By the time it has been cranked up, they can be really confused and doubt themselves at every turn. It's insidious.

I assume that everyone knows that there are repeats of 'classic' Corrie in the afternoons on ITV3? They are the ones with Rita and Mavis, Deirdre and Curly etc. I have it on series record, and binge watch it when I get the house to myself and won't be interrupted grin.

maddyone Wed 15-Jan-20 23:32:12

Yes, I liked some of the old characters, and the humour. Think Rita and Mavis. Bet Lynch and anyone else. Elsie Tanner and Dennis. And of course Hilda and Stan.

I’m fed up with the Geoff and Yasmeen story. I think it’s been dragged out for too long. Yasmeen has always been portrayed as a strong woman, it’s out of character for her to keep on putting up with it. Plus when Yasmeen and family were introduced, they were introduced as a Muslim family, who were well integrated into the community and went to the local pub, but they didn’t drink alcohol. So I’m puzzled that she’s drinking alcohol now.

sodapop Wed 15-Jan-20 21:47:15

Stan & Hilda were great Esther1 - its woman Stanley

Esther1 Wed 15-Jan-20 21:34:39

I wish storylines could be a bit chirpier - I don’t like the big dramas, I prefer the way the characters interact in normal day to day life. Stan and Hilda were absolutely brilliant back in the day.
