Looks like there have been several (Dr Who references). Yawn.

I didn't find it scary. Just boring.

Was there some kind of Dr Who crossover somewhere?

Teetime look out for a paperback ( or on Kindle) called The Historian, a very highbrow vampire story ( compared to most) but very involving and well written. It’s by Elizabeth Kostova.

I love Dracula stories and even did my thesis for my first degree on vampirism BUT this version is a bit bloody for me. I shall watch the rest in the afternoons - to much to go to bed on.

I'm enjoying it very much. A bit far fetched and not that true to the original story but it's a really good watch.

I'm starting to find it boring.

Haven't watched it so can't comment (I am inspired by the comments, though and will see if it's on catch-up).
What does intrigue me is the fact that so many of you have watched the same programme!

I thought it was great entertainment and Dracula was very funny. Yes it can make you jump and it is a bit gory but I am more scared by psychological type dramas myself. I am looking forward to the next episodes. By the way I loved the nun!

Watched it. Loved it. Daft but entertaining.

lemongrove Thu 02-Jan-20 20:54:21

Pure hokum isn’t it??
Very very loosely based on the book, but entertaining enough.
The Count doesn’t treat his brides very well, boxed up in a dusty part of the castle mostly.A Van Helsing, a vampire baby,
Old zombies, wolves, bats, nuns.....whatever next?

Enjoyed it and watched between my fingers a lot, but I wanted it to finish in one episode. DH is keen to see eps 2 and 3 so I will join him. I had enough blood and gore by the end.

It was those BBC horror programmes that used to terrify me; Tales of Mystery and Imagination. Still get scared thinking about them.

grannyrebel7 Thu 02-Jan-20 20:15:31

I watched it but made DH watch it with me in case it was too scary! I thought it was really good and the special effects excellent. Didn't like that nun though! Does anyone remember the Hammer Horror films from years ago? I used to get so scared of them when I was young. Think I'm a bit braver now smile

Septimia Thu 02-Jan-20 20:12:10

Agreed, phoenix. The effects - and the suddenness with which things happened - were scary and well done, but I also enjoyed the humour.

cornergran Thu 02-Jan-20 19:38:23

Enjoyed it last night. Certainly scary. Plan to record and watch in daylight now, my reason (OK excuse) is I want to keep up with Bancroft hmm.

phoenix Thu 02-Jan-20 19:24:00

Yes, some scary bits but also some rather wicked humour!

Will be watching again tonight!

Grannyknot Thu 02-Jan-20 18:55:41

We started watching it and I bailed - too scary for words! smile

MiniMoon Thu 02-Jan-20 18:49:35

I watched it last night. DH chickened out and went to bed. He needs to see it during the day, as he's prone to nightmares and lucid dreams.
I thought it was brilliant, and can't wait for tonight's episode.

Anyone watched this. I watched this afternoon and was so glad i did watch it during the day, it is quite scary. Some of the special effects are amazing but as i said they are scarey. So if of a nervous disposition don't watch. I didn't think i would like it and thought it would be rubbish, but i think it is quite a good story so far.
