Oh, didn’t realise it was a new series, I must record it as I thought the first series was so very good.?
Thanks for the heads up Greeneyedgirl

I think the actress who plays Mia is superb, and the other characters are completely believable. No Holywood teeth in evidence here!

I think the psychology, behavioural, and social dilemmas it throws up are quite depressing, but very interesting.

I watch it for some relief from current reality concerns, ha ha.

I noticed the return to the ruined house,to BBbevan. I think it is for continuity, a reminder of place, time and events. I agree DoraMarr the actress who plays Mia is very good. I do think that the character switch from nasty to nice and back again is a depiction of her conniving nature. This was personified in her apparent openness whilst being interviewed by Cadi and then the clear smile of satisfaction as she walked back to class. Yes very disturbing indeed!

I wonder if there is a connection between this series and the first. They went back to the ruined house where the girls were kept in the first series .

Welshwife Ithink there is an interesting backstory to Mia. She seems horrible- cruel, manipulative, amoral. We’ve also seen her dysfunctional home life. I’m interested to see how the story continues. The actress who plays Mia is very good- you get hints of a nicer character, and a great deal of sadness, behind her tough appearance.
I miss the nice furniture and the Poulsen artichoke lamps of the Scandinavian dramas, though. And the scarves, although Cadi had a nice woolly one on. ( there used to be a whole blog about scarves in “Borgen”.)

On the BBC1 Wales channel it has been airing for a few weeks. We did not watch the first series. We saw the first two episodes and found the attitude of the teenagers - particularly the girl - very disturbing - we decided to watch no more!

It's in Welsh and Wenglish oldglimmer grin

It IS bleak, but that's North Wales for you! It's Blaenau Ffestiniog which is at the centre of the slate industry.

I enjoyed the first series more, I think, but loved the bleak raininess of S2. I saw it in Welsh, though, which makes more sense as it's a Welsh speaking area.

Is it in Welsh with subtitles or in English and Welsh?

DoraMarr Sun 08-Mar-20 15:40:27

Yes, I started watching it last night. It is bleak- and rainy. The only brief glimpse of sunshine was when the two brothers went fishing, which I thought was a nice touch. Otherwise, it reminds me of a scandi drama, but without the nice interiors.

I watched the first series, and have been watching the second until last night when, TBH, some documentary about the royal family seemed more inviting!
It all seems so bleak and miserable really. Not sure how many more in the series, may watch it on catch up.

Is anyone else watching this latest series of this Welsh detective drama, or have I perhaps missed the thread?
I think it is very well done, even better than the previous series.
For this type of drama I think it's the best on TV at the moment, realistic and bleak in parts, but brilliant actors and lovely scenery, but of course it is Wales.
