Weather girls on bbc look east

Those of you who live in East Anglia - what do you think of the weather girls. On BBC look east. .? I’m all for Individual style and looks but one of them always has very scruffy hair (think Worzle Gummidge) . On one occasion she looked as though she had dipped her head In a bucket of oil. Surely the back stage team and stylists advise and help her to look fit for tv.. The other girl is like a nursery school teacher and speaks in a little girl voice, condescending and speaking down to viewers.. Both very irritating.

I just wish Julie would eat something. She's so tiny. I don't find her condescending, she's always talked that way.

I think Alex's hair is naturally uncontrollable. She did appear once with straight hair, but it didn't last - and didn't suit her.

Their forecasts are usually pretty accurate and that's what counts.

It seems the favourite hairstyle at the moment is where it's been cut with a pair of rusty shears and dried in a tumble drier!

There's hope for me yet, then.

Weather girls

Would you call male presenters 'weather boys'?
One has a science degree, is a journalist and reporter.
The other has a degree in broadcast journalism and many years of experience as a presenter and reporter.

Neither are girls, being in their mid forties. They are experienced and professional women.
hmm

MissAdventure Thu 12-Mar-20 23:37:54

I call them weather girls.
I hadn't given that a thought, actually.

MissAdventure Thu 12-Mar-20 23:39:26

Oh, weather lady is what I say, actually, but then that is apparently offensive to some people.

Callistemon Thu 12-Mar-20 23:42:15

Oh dear, I am being grumpy.

Ours stand on the roof - usually a man but it was a woman last night and her hair was blowing all over the place.

Bring them inside before they get blown off!!

Chestnut I’ve been trying to trendset that look for years. It’s finally made it ?

NfkDumpling Fri 13-Mar-20 07:13:42

Its always been weather men and weather girls hasn't it? I shall make a big effort to say weather women in future.

Gosh I m so unobservant I usually listen to their reports simply because (selfishly) I want to know if I need an umbrella or not so it would be on but not taking a lot of notice
I haven’t a clue who they are or what they look like ?
As long as they deliver a message I understand.. I m usually doing two things while TV s on anyway

I do like messy hair though don’t like the over lacquered look prefer someone to look natural I ll put Look East on tonight and make sure I observe and come back to you with my report

Weather presenters ??

Gingster Fri 13-Mar-20 08:25:57

I’m so taken up with how they look and sound, I don’t listen to the forecast . ?. I find them distracting. How shallow am I???? Blush?

We get BBC Look East in the rooms at the back of the house and BBC London in the front confused. I cannot say that I ever notice the hairstyles of the weather reporters as I am glued to the isobars etc. on the maps. (I do not like getting caught unawares by the weathergrin)

I get BBC Look East as well, and always think how smart they look. Hadn't particularly noticed hair. But I also think that they are too thin!
Always think Laura Tobin (on morning ITV) looks smart. I remember her from my teaching days from when she was 5 years old and she had a huge mass of long dark curly hair tied back with a ribbon. They did a beauty/fashion feature on her in Good Housekeeping recently. She is not just a weather presenter though, she has a degree in Meteorology. Always used to have a chat with her mum when I saw her; she was so proud of Laura.

Which is the one who always starts by saying, 'Hello, there.' in a little squeaky voice? We always answer the same. grin

I can never remember the names of any weather presenters, male or female other than Tomasz Shafernaker because he makes us smile and we think he should be advertising Cracker Tracker mortgages. grin

I'm now going to pay more attention to DH when he comments on their hair/clothes/voices etc., rather than just sighing, 'sexist!'

He'll be glad he's not the only one. So, not sexist, merely observant. grin

Weather girls.....sorry....women, always look emaciated to me, other than that, I don’t notice.

Callistemon Fri 13-Mar-20 10:38:55

I must say I often miss what Tomasz Shafernaker is saying because I find him fascinating!
