I didn't know this was on - Sky Arts now being free on Freeview, but I don't often check to see what is being shown. Hope it will be repeated .... I've seen POTO 3 times in the theatre, it never ceases to amaze and enthrall.

I may have posted this before but I have a lovely memory of staying with DD2 and her family when the DGCs were all small. We had been watching the film of POTO because a rainy afternoon put paid to our original plans.

At bedtime we were amused to hear the youngest DGD (all 4 yrs of her) announce, 'We're playing Phantom of the Opera and I'm going to be Mr. Phant!'

In those days, Sarah Kennedy on Radio 2 had a section where you could e-mail funny things small children had said. Seeing as SK kept me going on my early morning commute I sent it in and was delighted when she not only read it out but said, 'And for you, C....... Here he is, Mr. Phant.'

She then played Sarah Brightman and Cliff Richard singing, All I Ask of You.

When I sent them the link so they could listen to it, DGD's response was. OMG, Granny knows that lady! grin

Loved it first time round, loved the fantastic special effects, second time I already knew what was coming. But beautiful music and choreography. Apart from Phantom I’m not a lover of musicals.

Every time I see Andrew Lloyd Webber, and no offence meant to him, but he doesn`t look the sort of person to turn out all the wonderful music he has done. I hope there will be more of these shows on TV, going to the theatre is a bit pricey. My daughter has made a point of taking me to a good few shows since my husband died, bless her.

We watched it as well. I loved it, DH thought it was a bl**dy racket. grin

I messaged DD this morning to ask if she'd seen it and she came back with exactly the same. grin

Plus I hope it brought back happy memories!

Last night, thanks to my daughter telling me about it, I watched, on Sky Arts, Phantom of the Opera, the 25th anniversary performance at the Albert Hall. We went to see the show at Her Majesty`s 2 years ago, it was marvellous, but even more amazing 2nd time around. I LOVED it!!
