Does anyone have this? Is it worth investing in?

I do find the plethora of US films and programmes on Netflix and amazon not always to my taste. Is Britbox all old sitcoms, or are there films too?

I've got it. Not looked at in depth

Was surprised to see all the Carry On films there

And The Riviera Touch with Morecambe and Wise

I think I saw Trainspotting as well

We only got it for Spitting Image

Not yet but have a Smart TV arriving this afternoon and one of the things that I want to get is Britbox - want to see all Vera and Shetland amongst other programmes.

I have just looked at the reviews - they are dire!! Both on technicalities and content - and on finances.....being double-charged etc.

Oh that's not that good! I wouldn't be wanting something as dire as that. I'll have to look into it some more I think.
Thanks for that, it's given me food for thought.

I signed up for it a few months ago.
I was very excited about watching Corrie from the very beginning.
Only to find out that you can't get it on Virgin.

Oopsminty -did Spitting Image live up to expectations?

I have BritBox and like it. Am enjoying watching the crime drama series, Lynley, Morse, Wire In The Blood, Broadchurch, Vera, Frost, MidsomerMurders etc. So many good British actors and no f word and guns blazing.

I got Britbox a few weeks ago because I wanted to catch up with Call the Midwife, and Spooks which mysteriously disappeared from Amazon Prime.

I haven't been disappointed. I've discovered Detectorists, for example, which a lot of my friends enjoy, and Gogglebox, but also classic stuff going back to the 1970s like Porridge. There's a good selection of classic TV dramas, documentaries, crime series, plays, opera, vintage somethings for most tastes really. Did I mention Thunderbirds? Also a good selection of classic British films going back to the 1930s which puts me in my element.

It's not perfect and there's plenty of holes but anybody brought up with British TV is going to find plenty to keep them occupied through many a bottle of Malbec! <hic>

Froglady- you might be able to find good box sets on the various i-players which you'll be able to access with your new TV.

Has anyone seen Spitting Image, and is it worth subscribing to Britbox for? Not really keen on Sky tbh.

I have one of the bigger packages with Virgin plus Netflix and Amazon Prime. I do get frustrated when I see a good drama and it's on Sky Atlantic. I was so disappointed that Spitting Image was on another subscription package,I dont want to sign up for another one.
I really enjoy a touch of nostalgia. On Virgin there is Talking Pictures which has a good selection of films and tv programmes from 30s-90s. Forces TV is also quite good with 70s comedies such as Bless this House and Get some in.

Oopsminty -did Spitting Image live up to expectations?

Sadly, no, MawB2,

It was OK. My 40 year old daughter laughed out loud a couple of times

I smirked a couple of times

There's a lot of Trump chatting about the virus which now seems strange seeing as he hasn't got it

They did end up with him and Melania in bed, in quarrantine.

And a rather unnecessary part of the anatomy which I could possibly have done without!

I should have said seeing as "he HAS got it"!
