Well done to Prince William in this documentary about the planet.

He comes across as a decent guy, down to earth, knowledgeable, interested and engaged when he meets people ..... and best of all, no preaching like H & M.

Has anyone else watched this?

We need all the help we can get to stop the ecological degradation and subsequent climate damage.

High profile personalities are welcome as far as I am concerned.

Yes I do agree about grouse shooting and the environmental damage it does, doesn’t sit well with his call, but neither does eating meat, or driving cars or using plastic, or even eating sea bass according to the paper this morning.

Every single one of us is complicit in what has happened to our planet.

Agree wholeheartedly.

Most Sea Bass is farmed these days like Salmon apparently some don’t like that, large quantities of non food fish species are caught to feed farmed fish.

GrannyGravy13 Wed 07-Oct-20 09:19:38

Oh what is wrong with eating Sea Bass, we buy it straight from the boat (AC does and brings it to us)?

This program took over two years to make.
Prince William has the same right to care about the Planet as any Father/Person. If he is using his platform for good, well done him.

Its very easy to point the finger of hypocrite to any high profile figure, even Greta Thurnberg got it in the neck for travelling on a train. Anyone who adds to the message that there is a climate emergency, loss of species and destruction of the oceans, gets approval from me. Its almost impossible to live a perfect life with no impact on the environment, what we should individually and collectively aim for is to do the least harm possible. We should listen to the message not pick holes in the messenger.

I really enjoyed the programme. I thought it was wonderful to see him encouraging all the children in their environmental projects. I’m sure talking to him about their work will have inspired them even more. The children were amazing and doing such marvellous work.

Me too. He can lend his high profile to help inspire change.

paddyanne - not sure it was "jumping on the bandwagon" as I read yesterday it had taken him over two years to make it.
I haven't seen it. Just read an article about it.

Well that’s good to know Callistemon. I thought it was an excellent programme and good to see Wiliam involved and encouraging children. I particularly liked those two Scottish girls - 10 and 13, I think.

"Prince William is blasted by animal rights activists PETA for taking Prince George, 7, to watch him on on grouse shoot at Balmoral and say exposure to 'casual killing' could cause 'damage to his psyche' " I shudder to think what PETA's verdict would have been on my brother's (aged 10) and my (aged 8) otherwise unaccompanied sessions shooting rabbits and feral pigeons on local crofts with our father's .22 rifle and .410 shotgun. At the time, our neighbours were very grateful, we ate most of the victims, and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Now it would seem that these expeditions must have made me the psychopath I am today...

Callistemon Tue 06-Oct-20 23:24:05

I hesitate to mention that there was another thread, which was very positive about the efforts William is making.

Well said Callistemon.

Callistemon Tue 06-Oct-20 22:41:35

So, Grany and others -

What exactly are you doing to save the planet for future generations, to inspire young children about wildlife, insects, the natural world?

How high profile are you - would anyone listen to you?

Anniebach Tue 06-Oct-20 22:20:04

Why is it hypocritical Galaxy ?

Galaxy Tue 06-Oct-20 22:12:14

No I didnt say there were. I am not interested in what william thinks of the planet it has absolutely no relevance and is hypocritical, in the same way as Harry's pronouncements are not relevant, but there is no difference between the two.

Washerwoman Tue 06-Oct-20 22:07:41

I couldn't go shooting myself . However I'm not vegetarian and would far rather eat pheasant or game that has been killed in the field instantly than battery farmed chicken.I personally think game shooting and the issues about climate change and extinction of threatened species are a separate thing.

merlotgran Tue 06-Oct-20 22:02:32

Any recent ones with George present, Galaxy?

BlueBelle Tue 06-Oct-20 22:01:31

Correct Sparklefizz

Galaxy Tue 06-Oct-20 22:00:22

I have just googled and there are a number of them.

merlotgran Tue 06-Oct-20 21:58:26

Actually, most of the photos of him shooting (hunting has been banned) are old ones.

Numerous is an exaggeration.

Galaxy Tue 06-Oct-20 21:55:33

There are numerous photos of william hunting, are you saying they are all fake news?

merlotgran Tue 06-Oct-20 21:48:36

Prince William is blasted by animal rights activists PETA for taking Prince George, 7, to watch him on on grouse shoot at Balmoral and say exposure to 'casual killing' could cause 'damage to his psyche

That report was in all the papers. There was no evidence.

Grany Tue 06-Oct-20 21:40:18
