Anyone watched this last night, BBC1, 9pm.?

Has potential, I thought.

Hugh Laurie good, as per usual.

I enjoyed it very much. Watched all the episodes on Iplayer. Hoping there will be another series.

I wonder if anyone remembers Strangers and Brothers on ITV in the 80s? Based on brilliant books by CP Snow.
Is this a similar story?

Just watched the first episode, I think I would watch another episode, but only to see if it gets any better.Wasn’t immediately grabbed by it ( and I like political dramas.)
Hugh Laurie is always good in whatever he is in as a rule.

Watched the whole series on iPlayer last night, the minister played by Lawrie is so typical of a career politician, speaking platitudes and behaving outrageously. The PM wasn’t believable but the backstabbing special advisors I’m sure are close to truth.
Enjoy the episodes you haven’t seen, I look forward to the next series.

Well a description of something is exactly that, however vague!

Dont worry I'm sure I shall forget anything I've read before next weeks episode, let alone the end grin

Luckygirl Mon 19-Oct-20 22:41:46

Namsnanny - I don't think I gave anything away......I was very careful in my wording.

Maybe we could have a competition........if anyone can work out the ending from what I said I will personally award them a medal!!

Nana3 Mon 19-Oct-20 22:40:11

No spoilers please.

Jaybird55 Mon 19-Oct-20 22:35:34

I wondered if I'd like it as I found I had to concentrate so I could keep up! Most politics is baffling to me but I do love a juicy British drama so I'll persevere.

Just watched second episode. Oh dear oh dear oh dear. I am tired of kissing frogs

Namsnanny Mon 19-Oct-20 21:51:57

I too liked it and thought it was worth following.

Im not going to watch all episodes like Luckygirl (who I nearly swore at because she gave a little bit away!!grin).

My all time favourite political drama was Crossing The Floor with Tom Wilkinson 1996.
Any one else remember this?

I really enjoyed it and looking forward to the next episode. A very good cast and a great story.

Luckygirl Mon 19-Oct-20 20:58:41

I've watched the whole thing on iplayer. It is excellent - and the ending is good!!

Deedaa Mon 19-Oct-20 19:48:58

I think it looks really promising.

Fennel Mon 19-Oct-20 17:10:42

I've got it marked to watch on iPlayer.
Can't resist anything with Hugh Laurie.

I initially thought this was going to be about eating roadkill.

Curlywhirly Mon 19-Oct-20 13:17:50

Really enjoyed it. I do wonder if it imitates real political life or, more likely, if real political life has far more devious machinations going on!

GillT57 Mon 19-Oct-20 12:57:54

I thoroughly enjoyed it, all the Machiavellian links between the characters was interesting. Most promising start and an excellent cast

ninathenana Mon 19-Oct-20 12:18:12

DH likes the type of political thriller that needs you to concentrate. Even he was a little confused by this.
We shall continue watching

Alexa Mon 19-Oct-20 11:25:50

I wondered if it was too complicated for me to understand and I am glad I persevered as the story is really interesting. I am wondering if he will like his job as Justice Minister. I wonder if he will do good in the end.

Rosalyn69 Mon 19-Oct-20 11:02:30

Going to watch on iplayer tonight after catching the last five minutes last night! ?

maddyone Mon 19-Oct-20 10:04:56

Yep, I watched it. I enjoyed it and am looking forward to the next episode.

dragonfly46 Mon 19-Oct-20 10:02:33

I found it very intriguing as everyone seems to be linked in some way. As kitty says it may need to be explained as we go along.

Witzend Mon 19-Oct-20 09:56:40

Anything with Hugh Laurie promises to be very good, though I wasn’t quite as enamoured of it as I thought I’d be - the old evil-Tory cliche and what seemed like gratuitous bonking!

However a review in today’s paper says the first was the weakest episode, it does improve and is well worth sticking with. As she added, it’s not as if there’s much else on!

annodomini Mon 19-Oct-20 09:46:50

I found it intriguing and certainly worth watching. Similar genre to House of Cards, I thought, though no-one can match the machiavellian, 'I couldn't possibly comment', character of Ian Richardson.

Luckygirl Mon 19-Oct-20 09:35:31

I think Dominic Cummings is female here! I found it interesting and feel it is shaping up nicely.
