The Special School

Some of the best places I worked were special schools. The care, attention and just plain devotion shown to the children by the teachers and care attendants was wonderful. It's a pity that so many were closed in the rush to mainstreaming. So much experience was lost - and so were many of the children lost in the maelstrom of big secondary schools despite the best intentions of SN Co ordinators.
I sometimes used to see some of the children now grown up that I worked with in various special schools. I can't say that they were very much better but I suspect that without the input they received as children at special schools they'd be much worse.

Hey I don’t mind it being duplicated! Just saying. And definitely my fault for not being specific in the title.
Not e one ting anyone to be glued to this forum”. Blimey.

As I said !

Lucca sorry to duplicate your thread.
I too shed a tear watching the programme even more so when the head (wish I'd taken note of his name) got emotional

I could do with a bit of feel good so will watch next time. Thanks for the recommendation.

Anyway the thrust of my thread was how wonderful the staff are across the board. They should all be on huge salaries !
I was in tears for much of the three programmes I’ve watched.

I do find I apparently mistype more on GN than anywhere else.

Calendargirl good point.

Forum !

I agree with Calendargirl. Also most of us are not glued to this formula and may simply not have seen the other thread.

Also threads get duplicated because of the different headings.

‘The Special School’ and ‘Inspirational People’, both the same topic, could be interpreted in completely different ways by just browsing the active thread.

Started a thread on this last night! Called “Inspirational people”

I started a thread about duplicate threads a couple of weeks ago.
It seems to happen most mornings.
I reckon it's because the list of active threads are so dominated by games threads.
This results in readers being unable to see a wider range of other topical threads.
I also mentioned it to GNHQ, but I don't think that I worded it well or made myself clear, because I don't think that they understood what I meant.

I saw some of that and thought it was wonderful and also heart-warming in times such as this. It makes you count your blessings.

yes, I watched this! so amazing to see the joy on the young peoples faces as they enjoyed splashing and swimming about in the pool!

ginny Thu 19-Nov-20 08:39:52

Yes, I watched. What an amazing school. Wonderful staff, lovely to see their obvious commitment to and love for their job.
