I would add, since I’ve just remembered it, the more recent Goodbye Mr Chips with Martin Clunes. What an incredible actor he is.

So many good films in these lists. One I have not seen mentioned is Little Voice with Jane Horrocks, Michael Caine and Brenda Blethyn. A true British gem.

OK - seeing as others are having more than 10 -
Gone with the Wind
South Pacific
Rebecca
A Night to Remember - 1956 film about the Titanic and so much more true to the facts than later efforts. And just for pure showbiz glamour it was shot at Ruislip Lido!

Pulp Fiction
The Searchers

SuzannahM Mon 21-Dec-20 19:30:35

One of my favourite oldies is the 1940 version of Pride and Prejudice with Greer Garson and Laurence Olivier - Greer Garson twinkles and Laurence Olivier smoulders (although not as much as COlin Firth).

We used to watch it quite often until we loaned it to a friend and never got it back.

MayBee70 Mon 21-Dec-20 19:13:27

I couldn’t narrow it down to 10. However, Last of the Mohicans is the one film that I have to watch every time it’s on tv, even though I have it on dvd but have never played it. I was gutted when the soundtrack lost out to to that Australian film about dancing at the Oscars. The tragic scene with Alice is one of the most heartbreaking in the history of the cinema but strangely hypnotic. And, up until that point I hadn’t noticed the love that had developed between her and Uncas.
