Did anyone watch this on BBC4 last night? It is a 1989 adaptation of the book, with Diana Rigg. I thoroughly enjoyed it and can't wait for tonight's conclusion.

We watched it shysal. Wasn’t it good? Diana Rigg played her part with such menace she made me squirm! Can’t wait for the last episode tonight.

Thanks for the heads up.

Hello, that sounds great.
Who wrote the book please? Thank you

Fanny, the book was written by Domini Taylor. I only know because the Radio Times says so!

Ooh yes, I remember it too from the first time round. Edge of seat stuff!

There are a couple of pre-owned books on Ebay, but they are around £20 each!!

Her relations could have been kind and friendly without lying to her. Bad to be misled by emotional blackmail like her 'suicide' attempt .

True, she was damaged when very young, and became obsessive about revenge.

Did anyone empathise with her?

We watched it. Diana Rigg was brilliant in the role - she did a very good ‘evil’ - didn’t she play Mrs Danvers in a remake of Rebecca? Another chilling character if ever there was one!

Just as good as I remembered it! Diana Rigg was super as the scheming mother.
