Recommendations on Netflix and Prime

Watched Vikings Outlander loved them both. Daughter recommended This is us on prime its funny its sad both at the same time. It shifts back in time to tell the story but it's well worth it as it's distracts from the reality of covid.

I've added Vikings to my list.

I enjoyed Nativity with Martin Freeman, a bit cheesy.

The Queens Gambit on Netflix. I wondered how a series about chess could be so popular but DH and I have watched the first two episodes and it is very good. DH is very picky about what he watches but we are both enjoying it very much.
Designated Survivor on Netflix is also good if you like political series as is The Looming Tower on Amazon Prime.

Mary Queen of Scots on Netflix is excellent - especially if you love history like me.

My Octopus Teacher is a must see.

We've also started watching Tin Star. Which is strange, violent, hard to follow. But in a strange way rather compelling

Beautiful scenery as well.

I agree with Sar 53 about The Queen's Gambit. Beautifully filmed with an interesting storyline. About chess. Who'd have thought it!

Sar I like Queen’s Gambit too. Something a bit different.
Also liked Virgin River and the Outlander series.

Where calls the Heart. Gentle like Virgin River but set longer ago.

I enjoyed Queens Gambit and have started on Your Honor a series about Hit and Run incident in America, good so far.

Another vote for Queen's Gambit.

The Wilds on Prime. A cross between Lord of the Flies, Lost and The Truman Show.

Mank on Netflix. A 2020 American biographical drama film about screenwriter Herman J. Mankiewicz and his development of the screenplay for Citizen Kane (1941). Stars Gary Oldman as Mank and Charles Dance as William Randolph Hearst.

We are currently watching Rita ( Danish) on netflix at present and enjoying it. Also Hinterland ( welsh).

I have a book where i list recommendations on GN which is how we found Rita.
Also enjoyed Unorthodox, Criminal and Unbelievable

The Last Tycoon on Amazon Prime. An adaptation of F Scott Fitzgerald’s last and unfinished novel, set in 1920s Hollywood.

If you like psychological thrillers Dead To Me. Films : Mrs Lowery &Son, Ebola Holmes, The Notebook, The Laundromat and The Irishman ( a bit like the Godfather ).

Queens Gambit, Outlander (earlier series better than later), Vikings - all great.

Normal People is just beautiful, really captures every rawness & intensity of first love (but also rather raunchy).

Giri/Haji - not the sort of thing I usually watch but I loved it - one of the best series I have watched in years.

Unorthodox also great.

Have been watching Victoria recently. Easy viewing & enjoyable - but not sure it’s on prime.

Are now hooked on This Is Us. Started a week or so ago on series 1 and are now on series 3 episode 9. The first series has 18episodes and the second not far off that number. All those episodes and not a single murder!

My Octopus Teacher is beautiful
And live Schitts Creek.Only 20 minutes per episode and initial thoughts were it was too daft but stuck with it at friends recommendation. It has me laughing out loud and is heartwarming.
