I loved the Black Beauty tv series and remember galloping around the garden singing the theme tune! Also enjoyed Follyfoot, The Sullivans and The Cedar Tree.

Robinson Crusoe, it could be it's theme music that makes it so memorable. Also, I seem to recall a series called 'The Tinderbox' which I loved to watch.

Nah. It was cause he was bloomin’ gorgeous.

Does anyone remember Billy Bean and his Funny Machine - or something like that? I remember being terrified by one episode when disappearing paint splashed on everything, and the screen went blank. I thought it would come and ‘disappear’ me!

Picture Book - Mondays
Andy Pandy - Tuesdays
Flowerpot Men - Wednesdays
Rag, Tag and Bobtail - Thursdays
Woodentops - Fridays

Just don't ask me what I did last week?‍♀️

Yes I remember those.

I don't remember Picture Book. Maybe we went out on Mondays. I loved Rag, Tag and Bobtail.

Lovely thread. I'm off to see if I can find some of these on YouTube.

Tales of the River Bank? Little boats with hamsters or guinea pigs.

Pinky and Perky
Blue Peter
The Singing Ringing Tree. My sister was terrified of the little man.
Dad's Army. I used to watch that with Grandpa.
Gideon's Way and Z Cars. I wasn't really allowed to watch them but sometimes crept down to watch.

My daughter and I both loved Pogle’s Wood, and, later, The Magic Roundabout.

Chewbacca

Was this who you meant Curlywhirly? Efrem Zimbalist Jnr.

Ooh, how handsome is he Chewbacca?!! Unfortunately I don't remember much about the programme or who was in it; all I can remember is a big cylindrical hole!

Bill & Ben & Weed still make me laugh out loud now. Also Pinky and Percy and Twizzle who’s nose got longer the more he lied!

Chewbacca Sun 10-Jan-21 23:48:16

Yes! 77 Sunset Strip was fab! And the Patty Duke Show in which she played both girls.

Emergency Ward 10 was another. And Z Cars with that bloke who shouts a lot and he was called Fancy? The programme that scared me witless was an episode of Quatermass which was filmed in a disused tube station in London. They'd discovered alien larvae that was throbbing and pulsating and was about to hatch, with Dr Quatermass stuck down there! It was terrifying! grin

I can't remember particular episode *Curlywhirly'. I just remember Cookie and his comb. Was there someone in it called something like Efram Zimbalist Jnr?

Oh, I don't know but what a great name!

Has this strangeness been mentioned? Very odd programme indeed. That big fish flapping around in an inch of water bothered me no end. And lets not mention the evil dwarf

The singing ringing tree?
It was strangely hypnotic viewing, and that dwarf!

Yes, MissAdventure!

What a show that was!

I loved Petticoat Junction, Beverly Hillbillies, Gilligan's Isle. We used to make up dances in the playground at school to the theme tunes. Oh and The Patty Duke Show and The Pruitts of Southampton were favourites too.

I moved onto the Monkees and Top of the Pops in later years, along with High Chaparral, Alias Smith and Jones, the Virginian and the Monroes.

Curlywhirly Sun 10-Jan-21 22:39:40

Kate1949 I have tried looking for that particular episode on YouTube, so I can fathom out why I was so scared, but as I have no idea which episode it was, I can't find it!

Does anybody remember 77 Sunset Strip? One episode in particular scared me to death; I was about 5 or 6 years old and was watching it on my own (don't know where the rest of the family were!) A man was in a building and the floor suddenly opened and he fell into a huge, deep cylindrical pit, which then started to fill with water. The man couldn't swim and he started to panic. I don't remember what happened to him, but for some reason I was petrified. I still get the collywobbles if I see a deep pit.
