The Investigation with sub titles

Finished it. Didn’t really understand the end but I never can understand police’s stuff. I’d read a fascinating article about the series that I didn’t want to go back to till I’d watched all of it but then couldn’t find it. Eventually found it: it was an article in Vice magazine, a publication that Kim had written for. One of those stories that would be regarded as totally implausible if it wasn’t true. Kim’s parents insisted that their dog starred as himself. And I’m fascinated by the use of cadaver dogs and don’t understand what has happened about their use in detecting covid. If so many people hadn’t’ve recommended it I wouldn’t have stuck with it but I’m glad that I did.

All these Scandi type dramas seem to like being dark, and not sure why. Maybe it is a power supply problem (ha ha), but it all feeds into the sense of 'darkness' that Scandi dramas are famous for. And yes Jens must be difficult to live with.
I love them and watch them all when I can.

Does anyone remember the real life case that this is based on?

Oh no. I’m on episode5 and my iPad is on go slow. I’ve been binge watching it. A bit of a slow burner (Jens isn’t much fun to live with, is he?) but I’m really enthralled by it now. I hope it’s just a slow internet connection due to the weather!

I found it very good overall, but agree with posters who commented on how dark it was (in the sense of lighting, I mean), which I found irritating at times, and also the lack of investigating the perpetrators background more - though I suspect this was because they were more focussed on the victim and their search for her for this drama. Although they did interview some people who knew the perpetrator, they didn't bother with his wife, which I thought rather strange (unless I missed that bit, but don't think I did).

I'm glad I watched it though, it was absorbing. It was based on an actual, very gruesome, event as some have said, that happened in 2017.

Wandering slightly off topic, I actually find programmes with subtitles easier to follow, as my concentration is not good and it forces me to pay attention. I have to have the sound on though, even though I don’t know what they’re saying.

I watched it all. There is a massive amount of silence, lengthy meaningful gazes, and the absence of electric light - to a degree that began to pall, and I began to be concerned about the state of the Danish power grid.

There was also an absence of examination of the perpetrator's background - his friends, his employment, his relationships, his education etc. etc. There seemed to be a lot of sitting around and groaning and not a lot of actual investigation. Everything seemed to hinge on the divers.

I was surprised that the lead detective was not there grilling the accused - he really did not seem to do anything at all except sigh.

When watching Scandi noir I tend to yell at the screen - putt the blessed light on!!

Yes, I'm also watching this and I agree that there can't be anything more distressing for parents to lose a child in this way. The subtitles require concentration but I have them on permanently anyway. It's also good in the way that it shows how absorbing police work must be and how their family relationships inevitably suffer.

I liked the way the Murderer was not named or glamorised by publicity; a good new trend in drama.

I am watching it too but surprised as its only three years ago that this happened. It was such a horribly gruesome murder and wonder how the family feel. Assume they gave their permission.

We are enjoying it, but I have to agree it is rather slow - I dropped off at the end of part 2 and had to watch it again! I love the actors in the series, and the forensic detail is first class. Very realistic, but not the kind of thing to cheer you up!

Yes, I too think it is really good. I love all the foreign police dramas, but this is the first one I have watched that has been based on a true story.

I believe it is a true story. If I could I would watch the entire lot because I found it gripping. My problem is remembering what happens from week to week. Birdbrain prefers watching on consecutive nights.

I’ve watched 4 episodes of this over the past few days and I am glued to it. I thought it must be based on a true story, the detail when they were diving to find the victim’s body parts and clothes is so interesting. I’ll watch the final two parts tomorrow.

Goodness, I rushed off after a family Zoom to watch the last 2 episodes as it was so gripping!

I watched two episodes, but admit to nodding off during both. It was very good, but unfortunately not gripping enough to stop me from falling asleep, so I'll wait until I have a bit more energy before watching the other episodes.

Yes we watched all of this over the weekend.Intended to watch each episode as it aired but it was so good ,and we were gripped ,we watched the lot.Like the Pembrokeshire murders we liked the emphasis being on the police procedures and the determination of the whole team, rather than focusing on flashbacks or scenes of the murder.I actually like subtitles as it makes me concentrate even more.

Just finished watching it and it's ........ excellent! Can highly recommend it. Six episodes on iPlayer.

Sounds good, but I struggle with subtitles as the still words against the moving background give me migraine and I sit there feeling nauseous.

I watched the first two episodes on Friday and thoroughly enjoyed it. I found it easier to watch when I had switched down the sound so I only had to cope with the film and subtitles. Definitely well worth watching.
