Anyone else think the wrong potter bit the dust tonight?

Casdon Sun 28-Feb-21 21:53:15

Bit cryptic but I don’t think they did get rid of the best potter, and I don’t think it’s Adam. Who are we keeping the secret from?

tidyskatemum Sun 28-Feb-21 21:43:59

Noooooo! How could they get sack the best potter? I do find that in this type of show the most obviously talented people get the chop and some plodder gets the accolade. I hope it’s not going to be Adam. I find him annoyingly smug.

LauraNorder Sun 28-Feb-21 21:35:58

Oh no, what a shock, I thought X was an amazing potter but I suppose sticking to the brief is important. The other was not so much of a shock and I thought should have gone earlier .

Grandmabatty Sun 28-Feb-21 21:05:30

Yes, I have thought that about Adam for a few weeks now. His work is beautiful.

BlueBelle Sun 28-Feb-21 21:04:08

That was a shock wasn’t it ?

I don’t like the presenter either bu5 it would t stop me watching missing

I really liked Adams work tonight Hes quiet and not a drama Queen just plods on but does some lovely stuff

Grandmabatty Sun 28-Feb-21 21:00:31

Oh no! I won't say who went tonight but really? I'm having a stompy tantrum. I understand why they went but. .

missingmarietta Sun 28-Feb-21 14:33:11

I haven't been able to watch this series after trying the first 1.5 programmes, because of the presenter. She is loud and unfunny and very irritating. Just can't watch it.

Namsnanny

Anyone remember Deirdre Barlows (corri) ash tray??
And possibly a tea pot that leaked??grin

I remember them. Deirdre thought they were the Crown Jewels. I also watched The Good Life when Barbara (Felicity Kendal) came home from her pottery class with a couple of very rustic looking mugs.

Luckygirl Thu 25-Feb-21 17:19:34

Yes - presenter is surplus to requirements for sure.

Parsley3 Thu 25-Feb-21 17:15:03

I really enjoy this programme too but agree that the actress presenting it is superfluous and annoying. In the early episodes, I thought that Sal was a runaway winner but the Welsh woman has certainly upped her game. Roll on next week.

NotTooOld Thu 25-Feb-21 15:24:27

I like it, too, apart from the female presenter. She is just not funny. I really like the new judge, though.

mphammersley Thu 25-Feb-21 14:10:54

Yes I think you are right, I think Henry was surprised too. I love Great Pottery Throwdown, love to watch all those talented people at work and envious of their skills.

Luckylegs Thu 25-Feb-21 14:02:26

Do they need a ‘presenter’? Couldn’t Keith or the really nice man not say “you’ve got half an hour left”! or whatever?

tidyskatemum Thu 25-Feb-21 13:28:05

The presenter some of you don’t like is Siobhan McSweeney. She’s an actress rather than a comedienne - plays the nun in Derry Girls, which I love. I don’t think they really know what to do with her in TGPT and she often just seems to be a bit of a spare part. As for the contestants it was about time that Henry went. I’m not saying who I think is best as it’ll be the kiss of death for them next week!

Namsnanny Thu 25-Feb-21 13:23:24

BlueBelle Thu 25-Feb-21 13:16:55

luckylegs glad it’s not me I really don’t like her style of presenting the show and she’s supposed to be a comedienne !!!
Why do they feel all these programmes need a comedian presenting ...just unnecessary, and unfunny and surplus to requirement in every way
I think Peter might go he’s had some weak moments
I think Adam is coming into his own I too loved his octopus fountain really detailed and lovely

threexnanny Thu 25-Feb-21 13:06:03

I think the stress is getting to Hannah and she will go soon. It's a pity Adam is up against such great talent as Sal and the Welsh girl as he has produced some wonderfully artistic creations. I loved the octopus fountain, the fantasy lamp of a couple of weeks ago and his Brighton tiles were good too.

Luckylegs Thu 25-Feb-21 12:31:57

I too love the programme immensely but I can’t stand this new presenter. She shouts at them like a fish wife when time is running out! I think I’d have given her some backchat by now but they’re all too nice and pleasant to do that.

Love the programme. I'm following Keith on Facebook with his demonstrations each week. He replies to all those who leave a comment,

My daughter fills me in on the technical side of ceramics. It was her degree.

Glad they didn't make toilets again this year. Agree Sarnia
Think it may be Peter next week.

Atqui Wed 24-Feb-21 17:24:06

Love the programme , but the presenter this series is rather irritating.

grannyactivist Wed 24-Feb-21 01:44:53

I'm very fond of this programme in spite of not having an artistic bone in my body; as a teenager our son worked alongside a wonderful potter for a few years [part of his homeschooling syllabus] and during that time he produced some wonderful pieces. I do feel for the ones whose time on the show has come to an end, as the potters all seem to have really bonded.

LauraNorder Wed 24-Feb-21 01:39:56

I do love the programme. I thought when they did the tiles that it would be an interesting thread to choose six symbols or pictures to describe yourself.
In fact I think I’ll start that now.

Nana3 Wed 24-Feb-21 01:18:53

They're all talented in different pottery skills and like Grandmabatty I'm sorry when one has to leave.
Looking forward to next week.

Grandmabatty Mon 22-Feb-21 13:17:13

I'm actually sorry when any of them go as they all seem so nice! I thought Sal's shell was beautiful and Jodie's howling wolf was stunning. It's such an interesting programme.

Casdon Mon 22-Feb-21 11:53:14

Peter’s water feature was really clever I thought, pity the bowl cracked. I was sorry to see Henry go, as he’s quite original in what he does, I think he just doesn’t have the experience of most of the others. I’m thinking maybe Hannah to go next week - or Peter as you say.
