Are We Ready For The Big Reveal?

Oprah Winfrey’s interview with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will be broadcast at 9pm on ITV. I’m sure a lot of Grans will be watching as I can see it has garnered a great deal of interest on Gransnet. Oprah Winfrey is an experienced and formidable interviewer. People seem unaware she was a respected journalist before her ‘talk show’ took off and she gives nobody an easy time, though she is always respectful and professional. I shan’t be watching, it has already been shown in the US and the internet is full of it. Racism and snobbery make good TV, apparently.

Popcorn at the ready!

I didn’t/won’t watch. I wonder if they realise that that little clip will be analysed forever and every little slip they made or make that varies from what she/he said will be brought up over and over again.

I really liked Meghan before but my opinion has changed, I suppose that makes me racist.

Yep, that makes at least two of us. What a disappointment she has turned out to be.

Franbern Tue 09-Mar-21 16:26:35

I did not watch. Have nó interest, whatever.in anything to do with this whole lot of over-rich, over-privileged family.

If I hear again, about this mans traumatic, tragic childhood, I will scream. Just remembering how many tens of thousands of children have seen parents and siblings maimed and killed in warzones, have tried to escape, even taking highly dangerous small dinghies to get across seas and then those that have made it, being locked up in dreadful camps.

Apparently one of the US newspapers has a big headline ‘Drama Queen’, presumably this applies to Meghan, I can’t see it being Queen Elizabeth. They have also fact checked Meghan’s main claims and she doesn’t come out of it very well. Meghan’s father was on GMTV this morning and he looks a broken man and completely bewildered. For a man approaching 40 and wealthy by most people’s standards to complain about being cut off financially is ridiculous. He said he was living on his inheritance from Diana but didn’t mention what he was left by the Queen Mother, I believe he and William shared about £14 million but Harry received a larger share than William. Presumably his £2.5 million a year from the Duchy Of Cornwall has been stopped, if not it certainly will be when The Duchy is handed over to William. I really liked Meghan before but my opinion has changed, I suppose that makes me racist.

This is from excerpts put out on the web. We watched Deutschland 89 this evening instead of the pity party.

Two hours of it would try the patience of a saint.

It seems that parliament has been approached by the palace today with a view to removing the titles.

Most of the accusations are against Charles because he turned off the money tap and stopped taking their calls - left poor Harry down to his last £28m, which they then had to start using to pay for security! And an unnamed person (not HM or Phillip) asked Harry what colour the baby’s skin would be.

They didn't look hard done by to me !

Shinamae Mon 08-Mar-21 22:49:07

Really couldn’t care less

Anniebach Mon 08-Mar-21 22:46:28

I hope the royal family remain silent, surely they will

eazybee Mon 08-Mar-21 22:43:34

Just so annoyed that this ridiculous interview seems to have permeated all the news programmes, television and radio. I didn't watch it, but the news bulletins before and after were full of talking heads, so much time and energy wasted on this worthless couple.

ginny Mon 08-Mar-21 22:37:55

Not watching. Totally disinterested. Plenty of other more worthy things to worry about.

Esspee Mon 08-Mar-21 18:53:20

There are so many memes doing the rounds today. This one touches on quite a few Gransnet threads.

My admiration for Meghan as an actor has risen 100%.
She was either acting when she was a member of the Royal family seeming to love the great occasions and the adulation she received from some, or she is acting now with her tales of suicidal thoughts and how she was treated by the family.
I also believe that William’s children are the only titled GGC .
I could be wrong but can’t be bothered to check that fact.

You can usually see in someone’s face when they are in inner turmoil. I never saw that in Meghans eyes.

Boz Mon 08-Mar-21 17:49:25

I so agree with EllenVallin that is grossly unfeeling to pile all this on a 94 year old with a sick husband. Shame on them. I really hope they get stripped of their titles.

allium Mon 08-Mar-21 16:54:50

Think I'll watch something else. I imagine they are getting ver well paid.

LullyDully Mon 08-Mar-21 16:49:28

Oh and I nearly forgot gransnet.

LullyDully Mon 08-Mar-21 16:48:55

Yes boooorring.

2 hours is quite a chunk of time to give up. I shall wait for the News on the radio to fill me in, plus the TV news plus the newspaper, plus everyone I may get to chat with. That should mean I miss nothing .

BlueBelle Mon 08-Mar-21 16:14:35

Oh not another threa?can’t you see there are four or five already ???

AGAA4 Mon 08-Mar-21 16:01:12

Unfortunately many will watch, giving them the platform they want, to bleat about how badly done to they are.

Severnsider Mon 08-Mar-21 15:52:59

It's a toe-curling media-fest.

I'll bet the Queen won't watch it!

Washerwoman Mon 08-Mar-21 15:47:20

No I won't be watching. This mornings news was enough.Annoyed that Unforgotten has been shunted off the schedule.
And I've just caught up with the documentary about Amy Dowden the Strictly dancer anddetermination to succeed despite suffering terrible Chrohns disease. So won't waste any more of today listening to Harry and Meghan.

EllanVannin Mon 08-Mar-21 12:14:21

I feel so sorry for the Queen at this time. I know and appreciate that we all have our problems but when they crop up in your later years it makes for a more difficult time because the coping mechanisms aren't the same and can cause irreparable emotional damage which is harder to shake off.

So unfair too considering there's also a sick man in the mix who the Queen must be quietly concerned about.
Young people can bounce back but when you're getting on in years it's not as easy. I feel absolute disgust towards her grandson for treating his family in this way.

GagaJo Mon 08-Mar-21 12:13:34

If I was in the UK I would watch it. As it is, I will have to watch online later.

3nanny6 Mon 08-Mar-21 12:11:53

That's a good title Blossoming, only I am getting fed up with all these threads about the "Interview". There was an interesting thread running about H and M and the Oprah
interview it was going for several days. I went to have a look
this morning and a message saying G.N.H.Q. have pulled it off and deleted it. There are either the supporters or the non- supporters of H@M and a lot of people are getting too passionate about their views.
Well looks like we all get told if we say too much then things get deleted so why even bother at all.

Jane43 Mon 08-Mar-21 12:09:26

All I need to know has been on every news bulletin this morning so I’ll carry on watching The Terror on BBC iPlayer which is absolutely brilliant.
