Yes - finally. About to start tonight. 7 episodes. This is in my top three of great crime drama series. The Bridge is second with Shetland third.

The phone will be on silent and MrM had better not interrupt my pleasure. I think he's tempted to watch it though.

Jed Mercurio never ceases to come up with a great story line. Series 3 was probably be best so far for me.

I really enjoyed it and look forward to the next instalment. We watched all the previous 5series in preparation.

Thanks Callistemon - all clear now

My fave from last night remains Ted’s reference to the Pipe Band. He didn’t have many lines, but every one a gem

Line of Duty jargon and acronyms.
New ones this series:
CHIS (covert human intelligence source)
MIT (murder investigation team)
PNC (police national computer)
TA (tactical advisor).

Quite a lot more from past series but this will help if you want to plough through them all.wink

Loved it, we both did, roll on next Sunday

BlueBelle Mon 22-Mar-21 17:08:58

I ve not been a follower of Line of duty in the past although I think I ve maybe dipped into it before as I recognised a couple of the characters but not enough to know the back story
I kind of enjoyed it last night but the Acronyms and official talk really overshadowed my enjoyment trying to work out what Chis and some other terms were, completely floored me
I hope it improves

muse Mon 22-Mar-21 17:04:53

I've watched every series twice over and there is so much that registers the second time round.

Enjoyed last nights. Building up nicely for me. But, about to watch last night's again without MrM there. He's never seen it before and said he'd watch it to see what all the fuss is about. One minute in, he's asking questions. angry

All those acronyms are a bit like GN some days confused

Callistemon Mon 22-Mar-21 16:37:08

So when you hear the dentist say UL6 MOD composite, this means you have a tooth coloured filling in your upper left 1st molar tooth that covers the mesial, occlusal and distal tooth surface (basically straight through the middle of the tooth)

Easy peasy grin

Iam64 Mon 22-Mar-21 16:33:53

I’ve been to the dentist this morning. Listening to the dentist giving his assistant details of each tooth was rather like being in a LoD interview. All those acronyms

Thanks for the Red Nose Day link, Marydoll. Hilarious!

Callistemon Mon 22-Mar-21 15:35:04

I enjoyed it although I did not really know what was going on for at least 15 minutes
Charleygirl do you mean that you do sometimes know what's going on in Line of Duty! shock

We need you to write it down in simple terms for the rest of us ?

grandmajet Mon 22-Mar-21 15:32:26

I just watched the whole episode again, it all makes sense now. Strangely, I enjoyed it more the second time.

YankeeGran Mon 22-Mar-21 15:25:41

oops, yes, sorry!
I got carried away.

Chardy Mon 22-Mar-21 13:00:39

Callistemon I always think the 1st episodes of a serial are never as good as you remember the previous series!

Marydoll Mon 22-Mar-21 12:41:25

Please don't give any spoilers for those who have still to watch it! sad

YankeeGran Mon 22-Mar-21 12:39:54

Eagerly anticipated and eagerly watched...but I am less than impressed with last night's opening episode. The show has set a high bar to which I hope it returns next week, but last night's offering felt heavy and lethargic and a little hard to understand. And where was the twist, the cliffhanger ending? Shock potential lesbian affair? Really? That's it?
All that said, I shall be eagerly watching again next Sunday and expecting a great deal more!

Marydoll Mon 22-Mar-21 12:30:13

I posted this on the other Line of Duty thread.

Something to bring a smile.

A spoof Line of Duty for Red Nose Day.

I enjoyed it although I did not really know what was going on for at least 15 minutes. With luck I will remember next Sunday.

I thought DI Kate Fleming had aged and I did not like Steve's beard. Ted looked as though the world was on his shoulders.

I could happily watch it every evening.

Callistemon Mon 22-Mar-21 11:55:25

Chardy I only knew most of the answers because we binged watched some of the old series recently in preparation for the return grin

After watching all those, I felt a vague sense of disappointment in series 6 part one and hope it picks up.

Chardy Mon 22-Mar-21 11:54:24

Trisher one of the build-up interviews (Martin Compston's?) said there's a scene where they started pre-Lockdown1 and finished the conversation 7 months later - continuity nightmare. So look out for a scene between Compston and Dunbar where the conversation moves round a corner!

Chardy Mon 22-Mar-21 11:46:17

Muse, Chestnut, Callistemon, WishIwasyounger & CalendarGirl - hats off to you lot. I never finished the quiz! Too darn difficult

Callistemon Mon 22-Mar-21 11:24:53

Ah, understandable! I have no car recognition whatsoever apart from the fact it could be small or large or a bright colour!

Callistemon Mon 22-Mar-21 11:21:59

Chestnut ?

I'd use the term nark - copper's nark

Right, off to do a bit of snooping, trisher
I usually pride myself on continuity and attention to detail but admit I may have closed my eyes for a few seconds, shocking.

Namsnanny Mon 22-Mar-21 11:10:56

Chestnut

CHIS: Covert Human Intelligence Source
Why does everything now have a long complicated name so it has to be reduced to meaningless letters? Just call them a snout.

This made me laugh grin chestnut

trisher Mon 22-Mar-21 11:07:43

So as not to spoil it here's the link www.dailyrecord.co.uk/entertainment/celebrity/line-duty-fans-confused-major-23771612

trisher Mon 22-Mar-21 11:06:17

So did anyone spot the huge error? Must admit I didn't but the internet is full of people who did!! Clue: its car related.
