Yes - finally. About to start tonight. 7 episodes. This is in my top three of great crime drama series. The Bridge is second with Shetland third.

The phone will be on silent and MrM had better not interrupt my pleasure. I think he's tempted to watch it though.

Jed Mercurio never ceases to come up with a great story line. Series 3 was probably be best so far for me.

I scored 24/27, but must admit I've been rewatching on iPlayer.
Was confused by the first episode last night, so will need to rewatch.

Oh yes, that Ryan Pilkington is a bent copper now. When will he turn up?

Chestnut Mon 22-Mar-21 09:48:33

CHIS: Covert Human Intelligence Source
Why does everything now have a long complicated name so it has to be reduced to meaningless letters? Just call them a snout.

Calendargirl Mon 22-Mar-21 07:22:01

The Three Musketeers are all looking and sounding a bit jaded with it all. The job, I mean.
Let’s hope they all get involved with this new case and revert to being the Ted, Steve and Kate we know and love.

Hate to see poor Ted looking so sad.

?

Ohmother Mon 22-Mar-21 07:04:56

I think a subtitle should appear when they use an acronym. I was distracted by the ‘CHIS’ during the show. ?

mamaa Mon 22-Mar-21 00:12:38

I felt so clever when ( after googling!) I realised that CHIS was a ‘snout’... other half not so impressed with my detective work!

Chestnut Sun 21-Mar-21 23:29:05

I thought it was about time the body in the freezer was resurrected! (excuse the pun).
Don't forget Ryan Pilkington. He was the nasty little scumbag who rode around on a bike in earlier series passing messages and burner phones for the gang. Tried to cut Arnott's finger off. At the end of the last series he had managed to become a recruit for the Police force and was seen in training. He must turn up again somewhere, still working for the gang.

Doodledog Sun 21-Mar-21 23:01:32

Based on my extensive knowledge of TV detective shows, which makes me practically an expert ?, I think a grass is someone who tells the police about their friends/neighbours' nefarious activities, and a snout is one who is planted in the criminal fraternity and reports back. So a CHIS might be a snout.

It sounds more MIT/AC12/CIO/FLO/though grin

Ok then, who do we think is up to no good?

Maggiemaybe Sun 21-Mar-21 23:00:50

I scored 25 out of 27 in the quiz. I'd forgotten all I ever knew about Dryden and I got Ted's wife's name wrong. But I remembered a lot more than I thought I would.

Doesn't question 2 have two correct answers though?

tanith Sun 21-Mar-21 22:37:21

Brilliant start
Trotman was DC Georgia Trotman in series 2 she was thrown out of a 5th floor window.

suziewoozie Sun 21-Mar-21 22:32:31

My dd sent me a LOD acronyms bingo card - for this first episode I scored 2

Callistemon Sun 21-Mar-21 22:32:04

Oh dear, I only got 22/27
I must have missed a series - who is Trotman? She looks like a midwife!

Jane43 Sun 21-Mar-21 22:30:35

There are so many acronyms, I’m going to write them down for next week.

Maggiemaybe Sun 21-Mar-21 22:30:14

No idea yet, but boy, is it good to have it back!

Callistemon Sun 21-Mar-21 22:29:11

Oh dear, I only got 22/27

CHIS: Covert Human Intelligence Source

kittylester Sun 21-Mar-21 22:06:41

So, what happened?

Pittcity Sun 21-Mar-21 22:05:40

DH thought it was something rude grin

Calendargirl Sun 21-Mar-21 22:04:07

Is it just a PC word for a grass?

Pittcity Sun 21-Mar-21 22:02:22

Love how the continuity announcer told us the meaning of the abbreviation...saved me googling it!!

Brilliant. Thanks. 21/27.
Considering my memory these day - I'm pleased with that. Boys' home and depot questions really stumped me.

I got 25 out of 27. The only two that stumped me were the name of the children's home and the name of the Police station! Neither places had registered with me.

Chestnut Sun 21-Mar-21 17:56:09

I think (but not certain) that they are not showing them all on iPlayer straight away. If I'm correct then anyone who wants to binge will have to wait weeks!

Amberone Sun 21-Mar-21 17:54:11

We'll wait till it's all available on iPlayer and watch it straight through - we do that for most series. otherwise I forget half the plot.

I will still read the thread though - it's always interesting to see what others thought and there is rarely enough detail to give away the plot

Love this series. I’ve set it to record as will be at daughters tonight. Sometimes you need to go back over a scene because you were so flabbergasted whilst you were watching it!
