this man so annoys me, his latest rant is asking why there are no blacks mentioned in Prince Philips funeral, does the man not realise that there are only 30 invited, most being family, sick to death now of racist rubbish, time to put Jeremy out to pasture

hulahoop Sun 18-Apr-21 11:23:55

shropshirelass I agree I have worked with people from different countries ,I see the person not the colour
I think Jeremy Vine comes across has condescending especially when speaking on the phone and the leaping about he does makes him look stupid like an overgrown school boy. I like program when Anne Diamond or even Storm both do a better job.

Loislovesstewie Sun 18-Apr-21 10:16:37

So, if only my family came to my funeral(there won't be one BTW on my specific instruction) would there be complaints about the lack of diversity? In these COVID-19 times that is exactly what funerals are, solely for nearest and dearest. Does he not get that? Talk about being provocative! And it makes him look a complete fool.

A nice article about colour blindness in race. For added outrage, its from the Oprah website.

www.oprahdaily.com/life/relationships-love/a32824297/color-blind-myth-racism/

Can we go back to JV being a prat now?

*People of colour....*

sigh

And the prize for the first completely mis-placed post of the day goes to......

Somebody will be along in a moment to say that the previous phrase was fine a week ago and they just can’t keep up with all these changes ?

I read something a couple of weeks ago where a coloured person had said that the only racist people were the coloured people making a song and dance about everything. I have ‘coloured’ friends but I don’t even notice and neither do they! They are my friends because we like each other and get on well together. They could be blue with orange spots for all I care. People always raising the issue are making things so much worse. Shut up Jeremy Vine!

Who is JV please?

The 'Jeremy Vine' of the title.
Or is this a joke? confused

AGAA4 Sun 18-Apr-21 09:55:52

Very confusing thread JV or MM?

I think he is a very rude man, constantly interrupting if the conversation isn't going the way he wants it to. I don't set out to listen to his programmes but have occasionally listened to the radio 2 one, and I'm not at all impressed by his behaviour.

*suziewoozie*. I cannot support MM’s decision for not flying as I nor anyone on GN actually knows the reason why she remained in LA. There have been a multitude of facts given by her friends and the media which I take with a pinch of salt

I was just pointing out that every pregnancy is different!

Yes you were being fair to her which on GN can be seen as being supportive as the default position is to treat her as the Wicked Witch.

Alegrias1 Sun 18-Apr-21 09:37:51

Oh no, not Vanessa Feltz! She makes Vine seem like an intellectual....

Didn't Vanessa Redgrave once phone in to Vine's show to tell him he was an idiot?

I think he often starts completely bizarre discussions. If a whale got into a fight with a dinosaur, who'd win....?

Iam64 Sun 18-Apr-21 09:32:40

I’ve never seen his tv programme but sometimes have radio 2 on during his phone in at noon. I find him immensely irritating, his approach to guests and callers seems phoney and usually patronising.
This comment that the people at Prince Philip’s funeral being white is typical of Vine. He lacks integrity, sensitivity or emotional intelligence. When Venessa Feltz stands in for him, it’s a much better show.

^GrannyGravy13 ^ This is a jeremy vine thread.

who in my opinion is like an overexuberant child.

It wasn’t me who first posted about Meghan on this thread.

Although it is relative to the thread as Jeremy Vine pointed out on his TV programme that the D of E’s funeral was going to be very white

Anniebach Sun 18-Apr-21 09:18:13

I don’t watch those morning programmes, recently something was said here about him so I watched , once, why does he have the need to leap into his chair , awful programme.

Oh sorry I thought this thread was all, about Jeremy vine not Meghan.

Who is he anyway? ? I only ever hear his name mentioned on GN.

He's an over-excitable BBC prat cum radio presenter who is clearly past his sell-by date.
He may be roped in when the election results come in.

There are alternative channels if you want to watch the election results.

He has an over inflated sense of his own importance, is overpaid, speaks down to people and is well past his sell by date. In case that’s not clear, I don’t like him!

Agree with everything said here, I’ve enjoyed most of the guests on his show, hearing different viewpoints.

He seems more normal on the BBC, but still can’t stand him.

Boonsbabe Sun 18-Apr-21 08:14:39

I find his TV and radio shows very provocative and try to avoid them at all costs. However that seems to be what he is paid to do - wind them up, let them go and lets all have a laugh, its entertainment? Gosh I didn't used to be this cynical

That’s a good question - what he seems to do is say silly things to court controversy and thus publicity. He’s done a variety of things - radio 2 daily programme, Eggheads on TV as well as this TV programme. He seems to me from what I hear that he’s never quite found his niche - lightweight, dabbler, not very bright. I gave up listening/watching him years ago - there’s nothing there to engage with really. Just another public school educated given opportunities far in excess of his abilities. ( his brother is talented though )

MollyAA12 Sun 18-Apr-21 07:50:56

We only have to reflect on the Queen's and Duke's attitude to people of all colours. I think they have always been gracious and polite to them.

Jeremy Vine is a know all and sadly he can be bit of a vacuum.
His sympathy can be horrible at times.

He did a degree in politics and thinks he knows everything about it.

Savvy

She was not able to come to the funeral because she is pregnant

But when she was expecting Archie, she was able to arrange a baby shower

It's a lot further from Los Angeles to London than it is from New York to London.

Don't forget that they also have different rules in America when it comes to health care. Doctors in the uk may have allowed it, but doctors in America are always conscious of being sued should anything go wrong.

Not more pesky facts?

maddyone Sun 18-Apr-21 00:05:22

I think it was a disgraceful thing to say, and can only have added to the RF’s grief. I hope none of them heard it or know about it.
Had it been a big state funeral, many ethnicities would have been represented, from many corners of the world, but it was a small, family funeral. It was simply Philip’s family who were there.
