Your best ever TV ad? 'Levis in the laundrette' for me!

There are two adverts I particularly like, the first is from the 1980's, promoting the Volkswagen Golf, with model Paula Hamilton. The song 'Changes' is playing in the background.

The second ad I'm enjoying at the minute is the Zoflora promotion. A beautiful woman dressed in a green outfit, making flowers grow around her as she wanders round her home. Edith Piaf singing 'Non, Je ne Regrette Rien'.

In 1985 I went camping with my boyfriend (now husband) and we got drenched in torrential rain. We drove to the launderette where my husband stripped off his jeans and top and put them in the dryer. I like to think some adman (or more likely woman) for Levi’s was passing by..........?

My new favourite is the AA ad with the knitted dog, the record player, the arm chair and the fan. The music makes it perfect. Can't remember what the favourite was before that.....

The Christmas Irn Bru ad - Walking in the Air.

The M&M chocolate buttons ad: “ You were going to finish them without me.” “ Scott’s home early.” “ Now I understand what all the biting was about.” It’s not what you think.” from the guilty chocolate guzzler. Priceless, I never tire of seeing that ad.

The 2016 Christmas Heathrow ad with Chas & Dave singing 'I'm' going back' with the Granny and Grandad bears! Love it!

Just remembered the Hamlet ads too.

The Lady Loves mild tray. First milk tray ad - the hero doing a James Bond to deliver them.

I like the Kit Kat one with the roller skating pandas. Also the spec savers one with the dead cat/furry hat.

I also liked the Fosters lager ads with Paul Hogan. Loading crate after crate onto the back of the truck and one bottle of Sherry for “the ladies”
The truck collapsed and they took off the bottle of Sherry!

Both my favourites too.

They peel them with their little knives....
They boil them for twenty of their minutes....
And then they smash them all to bits!

Me too Luca. Those fabulous white horses. I think it came top in a popularity poll at the time.

My favourite current add is the one with the little girl at the corner shop buying a bar of chocolate for her Mums birthday. She counts out various buttons, toy ring and little toy flying horse as payment in front of the quietly amused shopkeeper. He solemnly picks up her “money” and gives back the little horse telling her it’s her change.
So lovely.

The Maltesers one where she lifts her shirt to be naughty.
Levis of course, so sad he died.
VW the one where she drops the keys in the litter bin.
VW, I think, with the divorce, white top hat and Young at
Heart.
The one with the dog barking in the car then quivering in the bank. Forget what it was for but it got taken off because it was disrespectful the dog!

The Specsavers advert, when the vet. mistakes his nurse's fur hood for a collapsed cat.

"And all because the lady loved Milk Tray" and then came along Levi and Diet Coke Breaks ads, phew! Next "Davidoff Cool Water" aftershave with David Gandi lying on a boat, in white speedos, blue sea behind him.....I'm away to stick my head in the fridge!

I love the old lady in the Aldi advertisement who “doesn’t like tea, I like gin”. I can relate to that!

For me it's the Nick Park Creature Comforts ones for electricity. Have just re-visited some on You Tube - so beautifully observed and amusing. I love the penguin ones.

Shiphams pastes - dancing pilchards and tomatoes. Yukky pastes though. late 50's early 60's.

The one with Hugh Laurie pulling faces. It was years ago but I think it was advertising a polaroid camera. It was just before he became really famous.

Levis ad and the coca cola xmas train ad, must add the Sharon Maugham gold blend oh and diet coke man outside the office 11.30. Could go on !

Do love the snoop dog one for just-eat!

He was paid about £5 million for that!

Back to the gorgeous Nick Kamen Levi advert. According to reports, Levi saw an 800% increase in sales of the jeans. Demand was outstripping supply.

It was also said that the boxer short wearing Nick saw off the Y Front!

Can’t remember what the advert is for....

Oh dear, that does not sound good for the advertisers though!
