This was on tv last night. I didn’t watch it but it was on in the background and it looked absolutely charming. I hope it’s on catchup so I can watch it properly. Can’t believe I’ve never seen it before.

I watched it last night too. Yes it is on BBC catch up. Wonderful cast.

I couldn’t believe how many ‘dames’ were in it!

Its supposed to be based (somewhat loosely) upon fact in respect that there were a group of English ladies living in Florence at that time.

Remember seeing it at the cinema and enjoying it.
Looking forward to going to the cinema again, have really missed it.

I watched it a few years back, then again not long ago. Judy Dench is such a good all round actress and I'll watch anything that she stars in.

It made me think of that documentary that was on a while back featuring all the dames. If I remember right Maggie Smith said Judy Dench got all the best roles. I hadn’t realised they’d all been in a film together (although it was probably mentioned in the programme).

I enjoyed it too. It was actually based on Franco Zeffirelli’s boyhood. He wrote the screenplay and directed it, made it so interesting once I’d realised that.

I saw it at the cinema years ago, and recorded it this week. Judi & Cher is a wonderful combination

I watched it recently for the second time. It is such a good film with an excellent cast.

I love that film. The part of Italy where it takes place is so old-fashioned and charming. When I was there on holiday about 20nyears ago I remembered that my mother had been there on a school trip which she remembered vividly and had such happy memories of. That would have been at about the same time - the mid-thirties. I think I have the DVD. Will dig it out and watch it again.

Lovely film - and semi-autobiographical, by Franco Zeffirelli.
Wish I’d known it was on! I’d have recorded it.
