I ve look on Tv /films forum and surprisingly can’t find anything about the new Baptiste series started last night
Did anyone watch it ? I love this series so was eagerly looking forward to it and after a hectic day on the beach and in the sea sat down in the evening and woke up at 10 pm ???
Thankfully ‘catch up’ has helped me out at 7 am this morning

Did you enjoy it ? I think it’s going to be really good once I get my head around the past/ present flashbacks I do love our Julien

I really like Tchéky Kayro who is Turkish/French. But I can only see Fiona Shaw as Aunt Petunia in the Harry Potter films. My problem, I know.

I'm always surprised when characters bounce back so quickly from horrific injuries!

I’ve watched The Missing sets, and the previous Baptiste and enjoyed them all. I watched the first episode of the new one last night, and really enjoyed it. The first series of The Missing, with James Nesbit ( and Baptiste ) was particularly good.

I'm another fan. He has a lovely voice and accent too.

Hated it and so disappointed! We have enjoyed the other series - 'Missing', I think, was so interesting. This one was typical BBC, every politically-correct point that could be made was, including where the series was based, and then they were strung together with an incredibly weak plot. Where was help from the UK for their ambassador? Is Baptiste rich enough to help out unpaid? How can a frail older man physically get the better of a number of younger, fitter people? OH stopped watching half way through this series and I just wanted to get to the end! I won't give the end away for those who haven't got there yet but the living arrangements of Gomorrah, who apparently has followers around the country, were a bit improbable to say the least. It seemed to be film-making on a tiny budget, but even then it could have been so much better. I believe this is the last series and it ought to be.

Just started watching Baptiste, after finishing ‘Darkness Those that kill’ , and Blinded Those that kill. Both very engaging.

It’s sooooo good. Just love Baptiste.

I binge watched it all, I think the acting is very good. No spoilers but I was pleased with the endng.

I finished watching series 2 yesterday. It was really good but so politically real and depressing sad

I do like the Baptiste drama and will continue watching. I found the switching from past and then present a bit confusing
and needed to follow it carefully to know what was going on.

Watched all of it. It was ok however not as good as previous series. Passes a few hours.

Watched Baptiste and enjoyed it. Professor T, coastalgran referred, watched during the week, we recorded it, very different, equally enjoyable. It’s great to have something else on amongst the many programmes we don’t care to watch, but plenty of sport we do enjoy.

coastalgran Sat 24-Jul-21 13:24:25

I watched the first episode last Sunday on BBC1 at 9pm, second episode is tomorrow. I had a feeling that I have seen something very similar before especially the ending of episode 1. I do like the French/Turkish actor that plays Baptiste. I haven't watched the new series on ITV at the same time with Ben Miller and Frances De La Tour which is also a murder mystery type of thing. Why do the TV companies always put new things opposite each other instead of staggering times and/or days.

I’ve watched the whole series on iPlayer. I enjoyed the previous ones, but I found this one rather far-fetched. Better not say too much for those who haven’t seen it. Suffice to say that the main character (Emma Chambers) must be very resilient! Hungary was an interesting setting though. The usual four-letter expletives continue to annoy.
I know I shouldn’t make presumptions but her Asian-looking right-hand man kept uttering ‘Christ’ and ‘Jesus’. Seemed rather incongruous, but maybe he’s a Christian.?

knspol Sat 24-Jul-21 12:29:45

Watched it all now. Didn't like the flashbacks, very disorientating at first. Also lots of small inconsistencies that I hadn't noticed in previous series, maybe I'm just being picky. Nice ending though.

Sweet Tooth on Netflix is a good one too.also has anyone watch The Girls series on prime? We persevered and it really became a page turner (binge watcher) . AND Good Girls on Netflix?! Hilarious and addictive...3series to go at if you can still find it?

We have also really enjoyed Lupin - French subtitles. Brilliant casting, especially the young lad who plays the young Lupin...

Absolutely fantastic and a breath of fresh air with the utter pap on offer at the moment. Agree that young Lupin smashed it! He's so like now Lupin I wondered if he was related ?his manner, everything. An original in these days of remakes and zombie rom com bomb and "feisty but damaged " female leads perleeeeese.......

Gabrielle56 Sat 24-Jul-21 11:55:35

I think he should tone down the limp etc, sometimes it's pronounced sometimes he forgets! Good job he had lockdown coiff as I'd be flummoxed with the 'then and now' too. Looks pretty good up to#3 .keep watching!

I first watched him in the missing then found the spin off Baptiste. It was really good.

TwiceAsNice Sat 24-Jul-21 11:21:09

I have not watched it yet but it is recorded . I may watch today so can watch episode two tomorrow. Have watched the others series. Do watch the missing it is mesmerising but be aware it is heartbreaking

^Loved it. I thought Fiona Shaw was great (but she always is).^

Was it just me who got a tad confused at first, wondering how she got from MI6 to become British Ambassador?

(Got confused with Killing Eve grin, it must be my age)

That confused me in the trailer! I’ve never seen it so going to watch series one on catchup.
