I just heard yesterdays episode on bbc sounds and i was getting really annoyed.
I know its not real life but the Alice story line is really irritating me.
Fallon interfering, Alice like a spoilt brat. Chris getting all worked up. I hope Alice does leave and Chris says good riddence to her and Fallon keeps her big nose out of other peoples affairs. Get back to Tracy and Gazzer and everybody else. The Alice alcoholic story is dragging on now imho.
Sorry if this upsets anybody.

Still listening, but I shouted “No, Kirsty” on Thursday as well!

chelseababy Fri 05-Nov-21 16:42:27

Is anyone still listening to The Archers?
Kirsty really is a dim wit and she has given away too much to Philip. Now he is manipulating her to visit him. It won't end well.....

I agree. I think they are preparing us for Rob.

Rosycheeks Tue 28-Sept-21 20:04:52

So it was Blake not Rob then poor Blake has got run over that boy has no luck. But I think Rob will turn up.

I would like to give Lee a special award for overdramatising but I can't because I've already given it to Ian for his almost hysterical reaction to Xander fancying a snack and almost destroying the kitchen while Adam was having forty winks.

That kid will go far! grin

Galaxy, I’m with you on the way the archers have story lines that reflect real life time. You put it so well on the Alice story line. Heartbreaking for her loved ones, who as in real lure, do their best which sadly is rarely enough.
I hope you’re wrong about Lee being killed by Titchner.

Galaxy Wed 22-Sept-21 14:24:06

I moan about TA a lot but they do overarching storylines well. Alice's alcoholism for example has been going on for years, they have demonstrated the slow drip drip of moving from social drinker to heavy drinker and finally to dependence. I didnt really pay much attention to Alice previously but the actress playing her is excellent.

Galaxy Wed 22-Sept-21 14:20:46

I have a very bad feeling that if Rob is back, Lee will be killed. I have never seen Lee as a permanent character.

Visgir1 Wed 22-Sept-21 14:05:00

If its the vile Rob Titchener how did he get back in the country?
Poor Helen!

Chewbacca Wed 22-Sept-21 13:35:43

I'm going to have to check out of The Archers for a bit then. When Titchener was at his worst, I couldn't bear to listen to it and didn't go back until he'd gone. .

PippaZ Wed 22-Sept-21 13:14:10

I'm afraid I can believe it Iam, sadly. Not really looking forward to hearing it but brilliant that they roll these things out in more or less real time and with the research supporting the plot.

Helen has a lot of support. I can't imagine how people manage if they haven't.

Iam64 Wed 22-Sept-21 12:03:21

PippaZ - the research is correct. Abusers like Titchner haunt Harris bully terrify undermine and abuse their chosen victims. Many women (and it usually is women) change their names and last names of their children. They move with help from refuges to areas where they know no one. They leave family and support networks in order to stay alive. Simply awful - let’s hope helen is in a stronger place when RT returns. No doubt he’ll want to see my son

merlotgran Wed 22-Sept-21 11:09:28

I just want things to liven up a bit. ?

Rob Titchener heading back to Ambridge

The most infamous domestic abuser in British drama this century is set to return to the airwaves.

Tim Stimpson, The Archers’ scriptwriter, said yesterday that it was not “realistic” that Rob Titchener, the show’s domestic abuser, would disappear permanently.

The storyline centred on Titchener and his wife, Helen Archer, and captivated the show’s audience until Titchener’s disappearance to America last year.

Stimpson said that his research found that abusers kept letting their victims know that they were still around. “There was a feeling the show needed a break from that story,” he said in an interview at the Hay Festival. “An anecdote that has always stuck with me is about a victim of abuse who had finally managed to escape her husband, got ... ... ...

And there, in true Archer fashion it fades out. Unless you have a subscription.

Oooh yes- Lee v. Rob? But with Tony, Johnny and the rest of the Archers chaps to back him up.

Shrub Wed 22-Sept-21 10:25:29

Yes! Not hoping though, poor Helen, she doesn’t really deserve it.

merlotgran Wed 22-Sept-21 10:22:19

Is anyone else thinking/hoping the prowler might be Rob?? shock shock

Rosycheeks Mon 06-Sept-21 18:57:51

I would love to have the worry of what to spend my money on a boat or a horse what a load of rubbish.

vegansrock Mon 06-Sept-21 17:11:48

The Lillian/ Justin story- Cringeworthy and a waste of a good episode.

Galaxy Mon 06-Sept-21 13:49:39

The Lillian/Justin episodes were beyond awful, I have a bit of a soft spot for Lillian but she hasnt had a good storyline in years.

Nannarose Mon 06-Sept-21 11:29:25

Whilst I know there are folk who enjoy eventing and sailing well into their 70s, they have usually kept it up over many years, not suddenly picked up after several decades - I know Lilian rides regularly, but she hasn't done eventing AFAIK since returning to Ambridge.

fiorentina51 - TA has hit quite a low point, with 'comedy extras' and strange storylines. This, to me, is the effect of Covid on Ambridge, which has been otherwise unscathed. No-one has become seriously ill or died from it, but their brains have been affected so that they behave strangely.

However, an upside of this strangeness has resulted in nurses getting a mention (Ambridge usually jogs along without them) as midwife Amy is reputedly returning 'for a break' and Ben starting his training. Even Denise gets a voice, although of course in Ambridge, a veterinary nurse would be more important than one who only cares for humans.

As for me, I regard TA as being like my family and my village - I don't even think about whether I like it, it is just part of me for better or worse.

nadateturbe Mon 06-Sept-21 11:11:30

Loved the Jackie Weaver episode. grin

nadateturbe Mon 06-Sept-21 11:09:20

The omnibus was very boring yesterday. Not worth listening to.

Luckygirl Mon 06-Sept-21 10:29:49

The episode with Lilian and Justin going to see a boat was a real low point for the script writers - what a load of rubbish!

fiorentina51 Mon 06-Sept-21 10:07:44

I haven't listened to the Archers for almost a year. Please, can someone tell me what the heck is going on??
