So, fellow fans, what do we think of the lineup? A very mixed bunch, personally only know of five, I’m sure we will soon have our favourites. Can’t wait for the glitz and glamour to brighten the long dark nights looming?

TillyTrotter Sun 21-Nov-21 20:24:43

Rhys and Tom both danced their hearts out for the dance off but I found it difficult to compare a jive to a couple’s choice.
Polar opposites as dances go.

Calendargirl Sun 21-Nov-21 20:26:42

Going off topic, it occurred to me tonight that Gorka reminds me of Novak Dvocavics, the tennis player (can’t spell his name) and that Katya, who partnered Adam Peaty, reminds me of Daisy from Corrie.

lavenderzen Sun 21-Nov-21 21:41:08

Sorry to see Tom go, I thought he looked unwell tbh. Also I wish Adam was still in.
I have felt disappointed somehow with this Strictly, it seemed to start off so well and now its just seems a bit lack lustre.
Don't think Tilly should still be in, I thought last night's performance was stompy and not good at all.
Hope it will be better next week and I can feel the love once more.

I accept that the judges are experts, and I’m not, but why Dan gets through week after week just baffles me.
He doesn’t even seem very likeable.

aquagran Sun 21-Nov-21 22:19:27

Of course he’s likeable, that’s why he keeps being voted in!

aquagran Sun 21-Nov-21 22:22:06

Or at least liked by many!

Sara1954 Sun 21-Nov-21 22:25:16

Aquagran
You’re right of course, but I’m still baffled by it.

BigBertha1 Mon 22-Nov-21 06:42:38

Me too...so wooden.

Calendargirl Mon 22-Nov-21 07:09:15

Have been reading on various sites, including GN I think, that Rose and Giovanni are shoe-ins to win the glitter ball trophy.

Don’t think the Strictly production team will welcome that really, the foregone conclusion I mean. If the ‘who is going to win?’ is lost, then apathy by the viewers might set in.

I hope AJ and Kai give them a run for their money.

Mollygo Mon 22-Nov-21 08:15:36

I agreed about Dan originally, but he at least improves week on week. I don’t expect him to win though and I don’t call in to vote at all.

Josianne Mon 22-Nov-21 08:31:13

I sort of agree Calendargirl, but Rose and Giovanni's dances are still evolving on so many different levels. The choreography, the message, the versatility, their relationship etc. it is all unfolding week by week. We have actually moved on from admiring Rose's efforts given her disability, although that side is still amazing.
J & J have plateaued and I think Kai isn't yet experienced enough to fully raise their game, despite AJ being an excellent dancer.

Millie22 Mon 22-Nov-21 08:35:00

I think a bit of energy was missing this week it was all a bit meh. Tom and Jon both looked quite weary. Training every day must be really hard work to learn a new dance. I miss Adam too and that guest judge was boring.

Josianne Mon 22-Nov-21 08:51:33

And it must be a bit boring for them dancing and presenting to no audience each week, except the same old fellow dancers and a few guests.

Dinahmo Mon 22-Nov-21 12:50:26

There is always a live commentary on the Guardian website with amusing comments from the readers.

flump Mon 22-Nov-21 13:42:31

Josianne Kai has been dancing for many years. When he was 14, he was World Junior Latin American Champion. From 2017 onwards, he was in Dancing with the Stars in Ireland and finished 2nd in the finals of 2018 and 2020.

Josianne Mon 22-Nov-21 13:58:01

Thanks flump. I meant more as a teacher, unless he has been doing that too.

Charleygirl5 Mon 22-Nov-21 16:54:33

I do hope Craig comes back this week, his input was much missed especially by me. I did not like Cynthia at all, her input was zilch and I felt she should not have given a 10 to Rose when there was a mistake in their dance.

I would actually like to see John and Johannes win- they work incredibly hard.

I do not understand Shirley thinking that Tilly looked like a professional dancer or she could not tell the difference between the two of them but what do I know? At 20 I could also leap over desks and chairs but I was never allowed.

Dan almost looked as though he had two left feet 9 weeks ago but he has worked so hard and has a good teacher. He does appear to have a large fan base.

TillyTrotter Tue 23-Nov-21 10:29:12

I hope Craig is back to full health and on the judge’s panel next Saturday. Last week’s panel was a little too much oestrogen and too much hair for me ?
Charleygirl I cannot imagine you jumping on desks - ever!
Did Miss Marydoll know of your dubious background when she engaged you as her deputy GN Maths teacher?

DanniRae Tue 23-Nov-21 19:22:22

I didn't miss Craig at all! and I really liked Cynthia.

Sparklefizz Fri 26-Nov-21 13:34:20

Just read online that Motsi has been pinged and won't be one of the judges tomorrow and so Cynthia will be back again. Craig will apparently be back and it will be interesting to see if we still think the show seems "flat".

Charleygirl5 Fri 26-Nov-21 13:44:39

I was hoping to have seen "the back end of Cynthia" but that is not to be. I wonder if Craig has much if any respect for her? Craig does not appear to have much respect for Anton.

I think John and Johannes may win.

Is Motsi still travelling back and forth to Germany each week? I thought someone said she had a dance school there?

Sparklefizz Sat 27-Nov-21 09:52:08

I don't know, but I read that she had all her jabs in Germany but that they weren't "recognised" over here ... not sure what's meant by that. She missed a week on the Strictly panel in the previous series because her dance school in Germany was vandalised and ransacked.

Josianne Sat 27-Nov-21 10:16:10

Hmmm. Just considering her air miles here too (if she indeed flies back and forth).

Anyway, back to the topic. I'm glad Craig is back too.

Millie22 Sat 27-Nov-21 16:32:41

Charleygirl
???

We've got her again tonight. Back end and all. She may be better.
