So, fellow fans, what do we think of the lineup? A very mixed bunch, personally only know of five, I’m sure we will soon have our favourites. Can’t wait for the glitz and glamour to brighten the long dark nights looming?

It was a great first show and I loved it particularly Rose. That would have been difficult for her but I think Giovanni is a good partner. Adam was really good too.

Sara
I agree about Anton. He has a very similar style to Len.

Kim
You could be right, on the other hand….

I haven't watched it for a few years, although I did watch a bit last year. I just got a bit fed up with it and with all the messing about and noisy audiences.

However, I've been watching this one and think it's great.

Loved it - again!!

on the Bbc news just now Tom Fletcher and his pro dancer both tested positive for covid so will miss the rest of the show of course

joannapiano Sun 26-Sept-21 17:59:29

That is really bad news for his partner Amy, as she has Crohns and must be on strong steroids, making her immune system weaker.

Sara1954 Sun 26-Sept-21 18:24:36

Oh no that’s such a shame

TillyTrotter Sun 26-Sept-21 18:45:05

Devastating news. I hope they will both be okay.

FannyCornforth Sun 26-Sept-21 19:37:50

What a mess

lavenderzen Sun 26-Sept-21 19:50:00

Oh no! Hope they will both be alright.

Fortunately, only for two weeks.

From the BBC website :
Strictly Come Dancing's Tom Fletcher and dance partner Amy Dowden have tested positive for Covid-19, a day after first live show in the series.

The pair will miss next week's live show and are now self-isolating separately, the broadcaster said.

The BBC added "that all being well, they will return the following week".

Fletcher, a singer, songwriter and author, is best known for being one of the lead vocalists of pop rock band McFly.

Grannynannywanny Sun 26-Sept-21 20:12:35

His band McFly are currently on a Uk tour. They’re minus their lead singer now.

DanniRae Sun 26-Sept-21 20:33:22

Oh Dear! I am sorry to hear that......I really like Amy because she is a smashing dancer but always seems 'low key' and dignified smile

Lucca Mon 27-Sept-21 08:35:45

I have to watch it on catch up and fast forward nearly all the talking…sorry but tess is so vapid and gushy. Claudia is better but she too over used the word “adorable” . I only really like to hear what Craig says…..Motsi is so OTT
I thought Nina very stompy not to say stampy !
The TV presenter from Manchester (yes ?) was amazing, such rhythm, and wonderful long legs….

FannyCornforth Mon 27-Sept-21 08:40:40

There are so many rubbish presenters aren’t there Lucca?
How did Tess get to where she is? She’s so vapid. Is that what people like?
I suppose it’s all ‘who you know isn’t it’?
I like Claudia too, but wee wouldn’t have heard of her if it wasn’t for her mum (who’s name escapes me! confused)

Kitty I was amazed to read that Susannah Reid’s mum was on here! Did it cause problems?

Lucca Mon 27-Sept-21 08:46:00

Somebody pollard.?
No I think Claudia would have made it on her own, she’s clever and quite witty.

dogsmother Mon 27-Sept-21 08:49:56

I loved it.
About 45 years ago I worked as an office junior in a place in Balham. Our cleaning lady, the amazing Peggy. Was completely deaf she passed her driving test, whilst I was there but the thing that was best of all she was a champ dancer with lots of medals.
So on memory of Peggy I am really thrilled to watch this one and see how Rose can go with the different disciplines.

TillyTrotter Mon 27-Sept-21 08:51:35

Who would we like to see present Strictly?
(I am fed up of Tess too. All she seemed to say to contestants after their dance on Saturday was “look, Shirley and Motsi are on their feet!”

Josianne Mon 27-Sept-21 08:58:22

Eve Pollard, she is a journalist/author.
Didn't Tess and Claudia start out as Brucie's girls on Strictly, like in The Generation Game? So I guess they were never meant to be the main presenters.

Calendargirl Mon 27-Sept-21 08:59:03

Claudia’s mum is Eve Pollard. I used to buy Petticoat magazine back in the 60’s, well my mum bought it for me, and I think she was the fashion writer. Also a journalist I think, she pops up on Royal documentaries, of course Sophie Winkleman married Lord Frederick Windsor. She’s an actress,

She’s Claudia’s half sister I think, not sure if she’s Eve’s daughter or not, can’t keep track.

Back to Strictly. Greg Wise, still a handsome so and so, but rather full of himself. Hope we don’t see Emma Thompson week after week being reminded what a marvellous wife she is.

Calendargirl Mon 27-Sept-21 09:03:48

Tess was always Bruce’s sidekick, apart from one year when on maternity leave and she was replaced then by Natasha Kajinksey? who had won the first Strictly. How innocent and amateurish it must have seemed back then!

Claudia used to do ‘It Takes Two’ and was very good on that. She stepped up when Bruce got a bit past it.

Josianne Mon 27-Sept-21 09:11:58

I would chosse maybe Rochelle Humes or Myleene Klass as presenters.

dogsmother Mon 27-Sept-21 09:28:13

I like Tess, Claudia is okay. But I would like a change.

No they are missing this coming Saturday, then after their 10 day quarantine they should be back the following week (according to the breakfast news)
