Freda and the implants for Aled. Now she has kidnapped the little chap to stop the operation. She comes over as the most impossibly selfish woman and I have no sympathy for her. One storyline that has disappointed.

I’m not a fan of gangster storylines either. I may live in an unusually boring street, but in all the years we’ve been here nobody has shot anyone else, or kidnapped one another’s children.

I realise that soaps need to have higher rates of adultery and emergency childbirth scenarios than average, but gangsters are not that widespread, are they?

Maggiemaybe Tue 19-Oct-21 14:45:53

Well I’m tired of the gangster storyline so am hoping it’s finally the end of the road for Harvey. With any luck he’ll take Leanne with him down a sinkhole or whatever as I’ve seen her marching up and down in a mardy strop way too many times. I could happily wave bye bye to Johnnie, whether via a stray bullet or a flight to pastures new. And what a shame Gary Windass doesn’t seem to be in harm’s way, so the saga of Kelly’s dead dad will be left to drag on even longer. If Corey goes I hope his guilt still gets established at some stage. And if Aadi’s gone I won’t be happy - he’s proved to be a real asset lately.

And thanks Grannynannywanny also.

Calendargirl Tue 19-Oct-21 14:42:48

Thanks Beechnut. Yes, I realised Dev had called Kevin out, but still think it a coincidence that the prison van just happened to be passing.

Also, why did Harvey make a detour to the Street? I know he wants to get revenge on Leanne, but his phone call to the airport made it sound as though his getaway plane was already there waiting, engines revving ready for off!

?

Grannynannywanny Tue 19-Oct-21 14:39:51

Cross posts Beechnut. I forgot about the punctures!

Was Dev’s crashed car near the prison van and Kevin’s breakdown truck? Surely a huge coincidence they were all together?

The prison van struck Dev’s car. There was so much to take in but I think Dev phoned Kevin for assistance. A bit silly with both his children trapped in the car and the engine smouldering. Ambulance and fire service might have been more useful.

Beechnut Tue 19-Oct-21 14:33:33

Dev’s car got two punctures so he called Kev out. While waiting the prison van crashed into Dev and turned over. Then Kev turned up in his breakdown truck.

Kevin is lucky that there does not appear to be much traffic on that road. He will drown in a puddle if he is not careful.

I was thinking Harvey isn’t all bad. He managed to reverse away instead of driving over him. I do wonder about Natasha. In true soapland style she’s rushing home in the dark in a rainstorm. I hope she doesn’t hit Kevin.

There was a similar scene a few years back in Emmerdale. Several local residents decided to set off in their cars in torrential rain at the same time converging onto the same road. There was a multi car pile up. Just when you thought it was over another car left the village and crashed into the carnage.

Namsnanny Tue 19-Oct-21 12:51:13

It was a bit of a mess wasnt it???.
I dont really care what happens to any of them.
With perhaps the exception of Aadi.
I think he must survive because the next story line seems to be how Dev chose to leave Aadi in favour of Asha.

I wonder if the evil Corey is going to meet his end in a watery grave.

honeyrose Tue 19-Oct-21 09:29:03

It was complete madness - so frenetic and dramatic that I doubt much more could have happened. I too was wondering why Halloween (or Horror Nation Street) was being commemorated in mid October. Is everyone going to fall into yet another sinkhole (that resembled a dungeon)? I knew Gail should have had her own sinkhole filled in (sorry, that sounds a bit rude) instead of waiting years (especially when Audrey is so good at paying for things). And now another sinkhole has appeared - or is it the same one?! ?Utter chaos and madness - I thought I’d tuned into a cheap horror film. Talk about the scriptwriters throwing everything at it! Crazy! Our Craigeh and nurse Aggie are going to be run ragged with all that carnage.

Aveline Tue 19-Oct-21 09:24:59

Debbie explained that they were starting early to attract journalists to highlight the place thus increasing business at actual Halloween. Well that should do the trick!!

Mary59nana Tue 19-Oct-21 09:11:18

I was thinking the same thing about Halloween being celebrated so early...

Franbern Tue 19-Oct-21 09:05:48

OMG!!! It brought back memories of the very last episode of Dynasty. Does anyone on here remember that? The Script writers had a laugh with the audiance, as in that final episode every one of the characters were last seen in some serious life-threatening situation. And....they are all still there for eternity!!!
Still wondering why Halloween was being celebrated in mid-October thought!!!

Aveline Tue 19-Oct-21 08:22:17

Well we were complaining about it being boring the other week!

vegansrock Tue 19-Oct-21 07:14:53

Oh forget Kevin being bashed on the head in the middle of the road.

vegansrock Tue 19-Oct-21 07:14:14

Blimey Aadi in burning car, Abi and Corey at the bottom of another sink hole filling with water, Harvey about to strangle Leanne- we really had to suspend our disbelief. Hard not to laugh though.

BlueBelle Tue 19-Oct-21 06:19:59

Kevin will have pneumonia if the crash didn’t kill him ?
Aadi (actor) is definitely a lot better than the last Aadi
Pity Jack wasn’t in the cab with Kevin !
What with a sink hole in Gails garden now one in Debbies place the whole street will collapse soon

With Johnny’s MS will he get treatment in Bali? will he even see to get there he could barely see or walk a few short weeks ago Miraculous recovery to be trotting off across the world alone

Kim19 Tue 19-Oct-21 05:38:21

Astonishing how little effort Dev put into helping his son in favour of his daughter. Each and every plot was utterly ridiculous methinks.

NotTooOld Mon 18-Oct-21 22:22:54

Doodlebug grin - loss adjuster.

Doodledog Mon 18-Oct-21 22:19:52

I've come to like Aadi too. The new actor hasn't been in it very long, but I suppose he must be at exam age now. They often get written out at that point, so they can concentrate on their studies.

Doodledog Mon 18-Oct-21 22:18:44

This happens when contracts are due for renewal, doesn't it? Plane crashes, tram derailments, pubs catching fire, explosions - if I were a Soapland insurance loss adjuster I'd include a massive clause that excluded all claims made in October.

I wonder if social distancing has reduced the need for so many cast members? There is never a full pub, only ever one table of people in Roy's and people like Izzy are never seen other than on an occasional Zoom call. They must be saving a fortune on extras too - there aren't even passers by on the street.

NotTooOld Mon 18-Oct-21 22:17:17

Ooh, I hope Aadi has climbed out of the passenger door, I quite like him (the new him, that is).

Harvey makes a great villain. Perhaps he'll have a showdown with Nick over Leanne. I wouldn't fancy Nick's chances.

I hope little Sam stays safe. I'm wondering if Natasha will make it back or will she skid of the road and crash her car?
