Delighted to see the return of one of my favourite programmes tonight at 9pm. I love watching their life on the farm. The children are wonderful.

This from Ben Fogle on Twitter. ❤️

I might be wrong, but can well imagine that it would be almost impossible financially for the Owens support their large family if they depended soley on the farm, so I would never criticise either of them for pursuing the media opportunities to add to their income.

As for any difficulties in their marriage, it's sad to hear, but unfortunately it is all too common and can happen to anyone.

I wish them both all the best, whatever the future brings.

well it just goes to show, you can live on one of the most remote farms in the country and your neighbours still spy on you and gossip

There is a big article in DM online. (I know,I know). Amanda has been travelling round giving paid for talks and flogging her books. There was one event at Worcester and she spoke as if she and Clive were living normally. She has had lots of trips paid for by media companies including a stay in London with the children in a penthouse or so it says. This is bound to have had an effect. They started off with the simple life but it has got more complex. In a way they are victims of their own success.

My goodness there are some cynical people on this thread!

Hetty 58 and nightowl - for shame.

For shame? What on earth do you mean?

CarlyD7 Thu 28-Oct-21 16:06:57

I'm sure that whether or not Amanda and Clive's marriage will survive, they will be as level headed about it as they seem to be about their life together so far. There IS a big age difference between them and they've also reached a point in their lives when all the children are now going off to school every day - interesting timing. how many of us have known couples go through difficult patches when they are suddenly confronted with each other after years of childrearing? I certainly have. Good luck to them and the children whatever they ultimately decide to do.

pinkquartz Thu 28-Oct-21 15:30:17

If the couple are goong thru a tough time I would think it is more to do with their age differences.
Amanda is coming up to menopause time and Clive is 70 years old.
I know hormones ramp up as we go to menopause and at 70 perhaps Clive is just not so interested.

I think they are are a lovely family who do my heart much good when I watch their show.
I wish them only good things and hope that they will continue to run their farm and look after their wonderful children.

I find some comments here rather nasty like "the children don't always seem to know what they are doing?" Really? Well they are brilliant with mother ewes and baby lambs even though Nance and Clemmy are just 4 and 5 years old.
They care for those animals and will always know how to. Makes a change from plastic dolls and screens.

Floradora9 Thu 28-Oct-21 15:12:56

Report from the papers say the couple are living apart Amanda is out touring with her talks and the neighbours say they have not lived together for months. I am so sorry for those poor children .

Kamj because what we see is a snapshot of their lives, they don’t talk about anybody that they aren’t in direct contact with on the programme. That’s the way with all reality shows, it’s concentrated on what’s interesting to watch, not incidentals.

I would have thought there would be some mention of the siblings regardless of being on the show or not

Dianehillbilly1957 Thu 28-Oct-21 14:12:43

Lovely family, oh so happy polite children, very refreshing. Although I had a good and happy childhood I'd love to have grown up this way, I've always loved being outside just like them.
My rescue Romanian dog has sat glued to the last two episodes, think she's very interested in the chickens and sheep!!

25Avalon Thu 28-Oct-21 14:11:11

Wasn’t the programme shot last year before their reported split? I do feel that sometimes the children, especially the little ones play to the camera.

Haydnpat Thu 28-Oct-21 13:38:56

I read yesterday they are having some problems and Amanda moved out several months ago

Juicylucy Thu 28-Oct-21 13:27:16

Speculation is that the attraction of fame and bright lights have got into her head and are the reason behind her decision. Hence magazine deals etc. Such a shame this soulless world gets to people.

abby0950 Thu 28-Oct-21 12:51:32

Newspaper (Mail) has written that Amanda is living in their rental property which I didn’t see mentioned on the programme and has been for some time. Locals quoted as saying they knew about it ages ago. It will be a shame if all the attention and popularity of this family and their lifestyle has affected their personal lives. Clive apparently is devastated.

fluttERBY123 Thu 28-Oct-21 12:43:46

We watched the first series and loved it but now we find it a bit too scripted and we wonder how real it is. Sometimes the kids seem to not be familiar with things they do.

25Avalon Thu 28-Oct-21 12:02:34

Thanks ClaraB for the info.

magshard20 Thu 28-Oct-21 11:57:57

If they are experiencing difficulties in their marriage, that is their business, not ours and definitely not the Media, the Media hype everything up and blow a lot of things up to gigantic proportions.
Left alone they will sort things out their own way, and they will definitely make sure that all their children's lives are forefront in the discussions. I wish them both great futures xx

Harris27 Thu 28-Oct-21 11:46:18

Just love it .life at its best.

speedwaysue Thu 28-Oct-21 11:43:47

Exactly my thoughts Lucca!

It's a lovely programme. I order Amanda's lamb via this website thewensleydalebutcher.co.uk, it's delicious and so good to know where it comes from.

We don’t hear much about his children from his previous marriage.
So sad when divorce splits families.

Kamj Thu 28-Oct-21 11:36:23

Why would they mention Clive’s adult children Kamj, they are in their thirties aren’t they?

Why wouldnt they?

moggiek Thu 28-Oct-21 11:36:07

Bromley - I was horrified, too. Poor thing, to be having a litter at that age.
