To the Botox ? I happened to zap to bake off last night and thought she looked a bit odd. I begin to feel I’m weird for not having “work done”

There is a really good make - up type thing that works on bags under the eyes ( lasts about 6 hours ) so not permanent but good for a special occasion. Not sure am allowed to name it. It can make your skin feel a bit tight but it looks good and definitely works !

Didn't watch Bake - Off last night so must have a look at Prue.

Bit of off piste here, but I have to own up to a sneaking admiration of Prue Leith!
I read somewhere that when she published her autobiography, she gave a detailed account of her long- running affair with the husband of her mother's best friend over many years.

Her son, highly mortified by the broadcasting publicly of her love life over the decades, presented her with the gift of a megaphone ?.
Just in case, he said, there were people out there who hadn't yet heard...

Same here ixion Prue Leith seems to succeed at everything she does. I am so envious of her lovely hair as well.

Whoever does Prue’s make-up needs a visit to Specsavers.

I think Pru Leith is very attractive, great hair and a nice smile. Didn’t see her on tv this week, will look out for her.
I personally wouldn’t have work done and agree a bit of extra weight smooths out the wrinkles a bit.
Can’t remember the science but a pharmacologist friend once told me that the anti wrinkle creams puff out the skin so if you use them on the skin under your eyes the results will be bags. Best to use special eye creams or non anti wrinkle around the eyes.

I have to say last night the lipstick was a bit OTT. I agree she is very stylish though, I just thought last night she looked a bit puffed up. I’m probably just jealous as I sometimes think I’m a hideous old bag.

An amazing personal history for an 81 year old!

I see said son is a Tory M.P and according to his Wikipedia entry an evangelical Christian .

I would never have botulinum toxins injected. Silly idea.

Actually, blossoming my son has botox injections to help relax the muscles in his badly stroke affected arm so the muscles don't retract and he is more able to keep his balance - so not all bad.

Lora please don't miss the 'e' of Prue's name - it drives those of those who have one on the end of our names totally bonkers. wink

Wonderfult hear it helps your son kitty- but we are not talking here about the same thing, are we?

LauraNorder Wed 06-Oct-21 19:00:35

I did notice Kitty, as soon as I posted. Simple mistake, as in Lora not Laura. ?

Actually kittylester I was posting in the context of this thread about Botox for cosmetic purposes.

I was offered Botox for my stroke-affected leg, but I turned it down.

Blossoming said she would never have botox. A sweeping statement. It helps my son an awful lot.

My DH had botox injections in his arm to try to deal with the pain left over from shingles. Apparently the effect lasted for about 1 hour. His pain was due to damaged nerves, not wasted muscles.

DS's botox is for muscle spasticity. And, as I said works really well for relaxing the muscle so he can use it to help his balance when walking.

Take my bra off, wrinkles miraculously disappear grin

Deedaa Thu 07-Oct-21 09:33:28

I had a friend who had botox injections to help with her incontinence after a prolapse operation went wrong.

I always spend so much time looking at Prue's lovely clothes and jewellery that I don't really notice her face.

I watched her programme last night, Prue’s Great Garden Plot. I think it was filmed at the start of this year. She and her husband of 5 years have built their first home together. It’s a huge sprawling home similar to the unusual style seen on Grand Designs.

The gardens are huge. They are planting trees, shrubs, vegetables and a substantial orchard with the help of their gardeners.

Prue looked very stylish with her colour coordinated outfits and spectacles.

Crikey that article is horrific I had no idea. I would be interested in how old she was.
