Just started on BBC 2. We never get tired of listening to the album Bridge Over Troubled Water and we always remember our little boys dancing to some of the tracks such as Baby Driver and Cecilia; are in their mid fifties now.

Who was the best you've seen live?
I'm turned on to watching the "art of drumming" on sky arts now. smile

MissAdventure I know, we should be happy to hear those songs from our youth, but somehow it just makes us wistful and sad that those days are long gone ?

Curlywhirly Sun 10-Oct-21 00:27:59

I have managed to see live most of the musicians I admire, but seeing Paul Simon was not to be. Sadly, he no longer tours, a big regret for me, just love his voice.

MissAdventure Sun 10-Oct-21 00:21:48

Me too.
Feel teary as well. blush

Curlywhirly Sun 10-Oct-21 00:20:47

Still watching it! Brought back so many memories of me aged 18; sang along to all the songs and knew every word. Classics, all of them. Feel quite teary, just where have all those years gone, and how quickly?!! How did that happen?

I can never listen to Bright Eyes, the theme to Watership Down without fighting back tears.

Such a beautiful song.

I was very much into Simon & Garfunkel slightly earlier as a boyfriend was a fan, so had The Paul Simon Song Book with songs I absolutely loved, I am a Rock, April Come She Will and then a bit later Homeward Bound and Scarborough Fair. Those songs really take me back to a magical time. I continued to follow them and Bookends is probably my favourite album, especially America. I have to say there were two albums that EVERYONE had, literally everyone, Bridge Over Troubled Water and Tubular Bells.

Lemon, my brain has cleared. It's A Heart In New York, written by Gallagher & Lyle and performed by Simon and Garfunkel.

Have you heard the version by 'Disturbed', muse?

What a wonderful programme this was. I have always loved their music. It’s yet another soundtrack for our generation isn’t it?

I’m so glad I spotted it was on. Saturday night is usually a dead loss for someone like me who has never been a Strictly fan.

As for the new Blankety Blank, well words fail me.

I totally agree! Not a strictly fan, not brain dead enough to watch blankety blank. Loving Simon and Garfunkel, absolutely wonderful music

We're big fans and watching both programmes tomorrow.
My favourite track is The Sound of Silence. Such a sad moving song.

Kate1949 Sat 09-Oct-21 23:16:02

We're watching it now. Bridge Over Troubled Water LP. Fabulous.

MissAdventure Sat 09-Oct-21 23:15:57

They sing so beautifully together..

we played “Still crazy after all these years” at DH funeral , very fitting as he was quite eccentric! We loved Simon andGarfunkel’s music . Often have “Gracelands” playing when cleaning , it gives me a lift !

Cherrytree59 Sat 09-Oct-21 23:08:54

Bridge over Troubled Water is my all time favourite album.
My family have been informed the song is to be played at my funeral .

Missed the programme Jane
but not too upset as DH and I are just back from a lovely evening at the theatre.

The Simon and Garfunkel story!

MissAdventure Sat 09-Oct-21 23:07:57

I didn't realise how much I couldn't hear until I heard it! smile

Grannmarie Sat 09-Oct-21 23:06:42

MissA, subtitles are my 'default setting' !
They make such a difference. smile

MissAdventure Sat 09-Oct-21 23:02:38

I accidentally put the subtitles on my tv a few days back.
I don't know how turn them off, but I'm enjoying tv much more. blush

lemongrove Sat 09-Oct-21 22:59:31

Yes, it’s the Central Park one I think ( tv off now) but I have recorded it.

MissAdventure Sat 09-Oct-21 22:59:19

Mrs. Robinson.

MissAdventure Sat 09-Oct-21 22:58:04

Central park. smile

MissAdventure Sat 09-Oct-21 22:56:18

Same channel, next on is a 1982 concert.

Marydoll Sat 09-Oct-21 22:56:14

Yes, of course Lemon Brain fog!!! ?. Don't really like Sinatra.

lemongrove Sat 09-Oct-21 22:53:55

Do you mean ‘The Only Living Boy in New York’ Mary
Or the Sinatra song ‘New York, New York’ so good they named it twice?
