Who should be The Next Bond? ?

And who should have been Bond?
I remember Rupert Everett saying that the role was his ‘birthright’, and that he was robbed of it due to homophobia in the US.
Who do you think would be good?

I saw the film yesterday and enjoyed it hugely! Phoebe Waller-Bridge ( Killing Eve) had a hand in the script. And I stayed to the end to see the James Bond Will Return on the last frame.

And I'm pining to go back to Italy ...

Theo James is a good call, but I wonder if a bit too young at 36. I saw him in London just before lockdown (City of Angels) and he certainly is pleasing to the eye. His co-star in that show would be my call - well known on stage, not so much on screen, Hadley Fraser - this 2017 interview - www.thestage.co.uk/features/hadley-fraser-i-have-never-thought-of-myself-as-being-in-one-box-or-another - shows him rather similar to - as others have suggested - Richard Madden. One of the film previews yesterday showed Richard Madden's new film, Eternals (oh, how I've missed film previews!). I'd like an almost unknown Bond ...

Please no to a female Bond. By necessity Bond has to be hard, forceful, stubborn and ruthless. That's great for a main male character, but I think I would find it uncomfortable viewing as a female. Where Killing Eve gets away with it with the tied-in humour, I think it wouldn't work for Bond.

I'd be happy with a male Bond of any ethnicity - Dev Patel (too young at 31)>

###CHARLIE HUNNAM ....yes he's human too...

Katie I can’t see a there being a female Bond either, as Barbara Broccoli (fabulous name - I think that we should all have alliterative vegetable based names) has said that she’s against it.
I wouldn’t be surprised by a hint of bisexual shenanigans though.
But not if he’s black though, Black and Bi would be too much for the money men

I think that Idris Elba is too old. They should have cast him ten years ago

Gherkin here......Gabbi gherkin.... Ha! Maybe a clever bond next time? Along the lines of Chiwitel Ejiofor / Dev Patel/Charlie Human ? All somewhat understated, yet quietly confident and with presence- that X factor required to keep us wanting the next movie!

The guy from Bridgeton or Lucifer.

Lulubelle500 Mon 18-Oct-21 14:36:47

I liked Daniel Craig as Bond. I'd stopped going to see the Bond films for years as they seemed so childish when I grew older, but saw the first Craig one on television and that drew me back in. I haven't seen the latest one yet but really feel now the franchise has had its day. It certainly has for me!

James Norton sounds good to me!

jaybee66 Mon 18-Oct-21 14:20:43

Rege Jean Page - James Norton - Aiden Turner - Idris Elba and Theo James - in no particular order.

Tickledpink Mon 18-Oct-21 14:16:55

I think Tom Hardy could do it. Versatile actor, not too pretty, just the right balance. So far Daniel Craig is my favourite Bond.

FranT Mon 18-Oct-21 14:11:55

Rege Jean-Page.

Esspee Mon 18-Oct-21 13:53:34

Idris Elba most definitely.

BlueRuby Mon 18-Oct-21 13:48:20

I enjoyed the latest Bond film. I think Daniel Craig is my favourite Bond. As for a replacement - any colour of the rainbow, but definitely male!

Olive53 Mon 18-Oct-21 13:43:23

I think Claes Bang would make a brilliant Bond. He played Count Dracula two years ago at new year
He is absolutely gorgeous.

Llamedos13 Mon 18-Oct-21 13:40:43

Any fans of the Netflix show Homeland? My vote for the next Bond would be the actor who played Peter Quinn. Rupert Friend. He would tick all the boxes.

Greg Wise

As long as he doesn’t have to dance- “Samba, Mr Bond? You must wear these baggy blue trousers of course, so you look shaken but not stirred”.

Sweetpea60 Mon 18-Oct-21 13:29:01

Luke evans ticks all the right boxes, he can act, he's extremely handsome and he can sing.

I also think Sean Connery was by far the best and most true to the original in the books.
I wonder why Ewan McGregor hasn’t been suggested - he is good looking, Scottish and has the right twinkle in his eye, though maybe that’s not allowed now!

missdeke And I’m sure you’ll get it!!

What about the ££€€$$ it nets the box office!!

I really can't believe they are still making Bond films, personally I think they are just a load of extravagant rubbish. Having read through the suggestions for the role I think they are all worthy of so much more than James Bond.

( I'll now wait for the flack) grin

Growing0ldDisgracefully Mon 18-Oct-21 12:58:20

Sam Heughan. Yum!

Or Tom Hiddleston.

Alioop Mon 18-Oct-21 12:56:31

Tom Hardy for me too.

Marilla Mon 18-Oct-21 12:56:21

Rupert Penry-Jones. Handsome, refined and lovely voice.

I’ve just had another thought, how about the very gorgeous Theo James?

I thought that was Nicholas Cartwright (Australian actor)! They look so alike.
