Must say I am not a fan. But quite annoyed and shocked tonight to see her wearing a massive fox tail on her coat hood!

Kali2 I am absolutely sure it was real- I know how to tell the difference

Clearly you don't!

So is this a fake-fur-news thread then? grin

Absolutely!
My latest self indulgence - if only it would stop raining!

Why bother wearing fake fur?
Perhaps because it's cosy and warm?

I didn't watch the show (I was at dog school) but is this it by Charlotte Baillieu? It definitely says faux fur as all her parka hoods are.
If you are an aspiring designer why would you go against the anti fur movement led by the likes of Gucci and Yves Saint Laurent?

Looks like it
I once sent an Internet ordered Joules coat with a (faux) fur trimmed hood back because it looked just too realistic - as if I was wearing next door’s moggy!

I love a Welsh accent, so I'm pleased that she's back.

That is for Kali.

Parsley3 Sat 08-Jan-22 10:12:11

What tells you that it is real?

Why bother wearing fake fur?

Why do vegans eat fake sausages, burgers or whatever?

If you don’t agree with something, avoid anything that mimics it, surely.

A sausage (cylinder) and a burger (patty) are just shapes or forms or whatever.
Convenient shapes to form food stuff into and easy to eat.
You can hardly expect vegetarians to reinvent the wheel, as it were, and eat food formed into pyramids, cuboids or five pointed stars.

Which reminds me - those horrible little teddy bear shapes made out of ham. Bleurgh envy

Some time ago I read about real fur being passed-off a faux - just found this article and it makes for interesting if alarming reading.

What is faux fur, then? Faux fur is made of synthetic fibers designed to mimic the look and feel of real fur. It’s a response to the demand for cruelty-free fur.

However, another way of satisfying the demand for fake fur is much more cynical – but alarmingly widespread. For years now, all over the world, clothing retailers have repeatedly been caught selling real fur as fake fur. So your faux fur might actually be real fur after all.

Full article: Faux or real

I'd be surprised if a BBC presenter knowingly wore fur on screen.

As your so convinced that the fur is real I suggest you contact the company who make the coat ( Charlotte Baillieu) and challenge their statement that it is faux fur
Maybe you might believe them.

The introduction ‘music’ puts me off so I-never watch it! I turn off as soon as that trumpet blares! ?

Josieann Sat 08-Jan-22 07:59:08

That reminds me, I think Alex is or was vegan so she wouldn't wear real fur.

1. It won’t have been real.
2. You can tell, Kali2 ? Really? At a distance? Under studio lights? gringrin
People especially of her generation and in the public eye would no way appear on prime time TV in real fur even if there were still a geriatric dowager somewhere in the Shires with a mink in the wardrobe

FannyCornforth Sat 08-Jan-22 05:33:27

Ms Jones was quoted in The Mirror yesterday claiming that becoming vegan helped her to get pregnant.
So it being real fur looks even more unlikely

FannyCornforth Sat 08-Jan-22 05:29:42

You are right Calistemon; of course it won’t be!
You can only tell by burning the real / faux fur or by blowing on it.

'Spiteful' - where?

Post number 5.

We take a peek sometimes to see who is on but rarely watch all the programme, not that I have anything against Alex Jones or her voice whatsoever.

Tonight we were alerted to a series by Martin Clunes which may interest us.

GillT57 Fri 07-Jan-22 22:46:20

I can't bear the One Show and find it inane, it gets switched off rapidly un this house. Alex Jones is to my mind the worst presenter on a rubbish show.

Georgesgran Fri 07-Jan-22 21:39:00

Never a fan of that programme, no matter who presents it - I always call it ‘a filler’ - bridging the gap between the news and something lighter.

JaneJudge Fri 07-Jan-22 21:33:00

are people suggesting she is working for foxy bingo too? shock
