I think there’s a new Scotlands Home of the Year on iplayer that I haven’t seen. There’s also a Christmas special as well. Someone on gransnet told me about the programme a couple of years ago. Not a makeover programme but the houses are stunning and the presenters aren’t irritating. That’s me glued to iplayer for the next few days!

I love watching these and was even more excited now that we have our own home in need of updating.

But I must be honest I've been slightly put off now seeing the amounts they spend.

Readin this thread, I feel a Magnolia Moment coming on!

I've only seen the trailers but they were enough to put me off. A bit like Lulu Lytle I thought.

However striking and fashionable a room looked, I could not stand black walls and ceilings.

I don’t get this ‘fashion’ for painting ceilings in bold colours. As for putting gold leaf on a ceiling. What happens when you want to redecorate and have to get it all off?

When growing up my parents always painted the wood a
‘matching’ colour to the wallpaper, I hated it and wished for all the wood to be white. Since I left home I had my wish.
Forward 50 years my eldest DD last year painted her hallway a royal blue all over and living/dining area a dark green. The dinning chairs are different dark velvet colours round and old French polished table and the sofa dark mustard. I like it and while watching this tv program I am constantly reminded of my DD

I think she’s good in other programmes but isn’t good enough to host a complete programme on her own. Having said that it’s nice to have a home decorating programme on that ‘s of a higher calibre than the recent cringeworthy changing rooms. I always need programmes like this to inspire me to do a bit of decorating.

I quite liked the changes she made but wondered if such flamboyant designs would be difficult to live with. I find Sophie Robinson irritating.

I sort of 'half-watched' this while I was reading. I like Sophie but I wasn't sure about the changes which were made which were a bit eye-popping for me. A matter of personal choice, of course, but it's always interesting to see what the new trends are. I think I'm stuck in the 1970/80s decor wise!

Starting on 19th. With Sophie Robinson who was on The Great Interior Design Challenge. I’m really missing good home makeover programmes at the moment so I’m looking forward to this.
