A friend told me to watch this on Now or Sky Atlantic. I did try a while ago but couldn't warm to it, my friend said to get past the first three episodes and it would be worth it. She was right, I have watched all three series and now missing it. It is about a media mogul Logan Roy, played by Brian Cox, and his three sons and one daughter. Three of his children compete to become head of the company after him and he plays them against each other disgracefully. My favourite characters are Logan Roy’s son-in-law Tom played by Matthew MacFadyen and Logan Roy’s nephew Greg played by Greg Hirsch. It is a drama series but also a black comedy, the actors are all superb.

Yes we’ve watched all of it. I believe another season will be/is being produced. There isn’t a “nice” warm character in it but the acting is superb.

Just watched 1st 2 episodes last night, on recommendation of a friend. Wasn't sure whether to continue, but will persist a bit more, thanks to your recommendations

I am reading Brian Cox’s autobiography just now. He is very candid about his life, warts and all. I watched Succession and enjoyed it too.

I watched it all and felt like sticking a knife in my eye at the end. For me, it just never got better!

It's the best series ever made for television. The acting is great, the storyline is complicated but fascinating and there's an element of truth behind the whole thing. I actually thought the children were damaged but understandably so. Brian Cox is amazing as the man who can't bear to release even a minimum of power. Watch out for Harriet Walters as the chilliest mother ever. Much of what you see is based on, or has elements of, the Murdoch family

Trisher, I too wondered how much was based on the Murdochs. I also wondered if it was about the Trumps, Trump’s father was very like Logan Roy. I felt for Kendall during the third series, the way his father used what happened at his sister’s wedding against him, constantly twisting the knife in what was obviously a very deep wound and the way he broke down to his siblings at the end moved me very much. I also found a modicum of humanity in Roman in the scenes with the three siblings but I thought Shiv was the one most like her father and the way she treated her husband showed that. I also think it is one if the best series for tv, a study in family relationships and how power corrupts, also a brilliant black comedy. You may like to watch the series about Roger Ailes who set up Fox News, another odious human being brilliantly played by Russell Crowe. It is called The Loudest Voice and is on Sky Atlantic and Now tv. Harriet Walter was very good as the mother, what a cold fish. Cousin Greg entered the family as such an innocent but by the end he had sold his soul, as he said, ‘who needs a soul anyway?’ I could go on and on about how brilliant it is but I realise it isn’t for everybody.

I've loved the series since the beginning and was waiting with baited breath for the last one.
I posted on another thread about how much I loved the program, so dont want to repeat myself.
But the writer Jessie Armstrong is a brilliant observer of life.
Hes written or collaborated on many hit tv shows and films. The Thick Of It, Black Mirror and Peep Show to name a few.

Namsnanny I will check those out, he really is a brilliant writer.

Jane43 So nice to know others loved it. Apparently Murdoch's eldest son had a band and tried to be a rapper at one time- so like Kendall. Poor Greg- Greg the Egg as HW calls him, he was the complete innocent wasn't he?
Some of the episodes were brilliantly funny- the one with the therapist for example. It's dark humour but it's great.
Thanks for the suggestions I will check them out!
